Sony trademarks new controller name |
Ó
It seems Sony has trademarked a new brand name at the Japanese patent office, apparently for a controller. And it's called..."P oo S". Not quite unlike the aftermath of the Wii announcement, the jokes are already rolling in and let's be frank, that's no surprise. Are Sony hoping to follow and succeed with the strategy Nintendo has utilized? As their rivals, do they hope an at first alienating name will sooner or later become highly identifiable, or is this just another silly move for the sake of publicity being creative?
Regardless of that, the source states the "oo" part could be the infinity sign. Or it might represent the two analog sticks on a Dual Shock controller.
While it's doubtable "P oo S" will stir the media as heavily as Wii, Sony haters surely get another piece of meat to chew on with this. It seems we have to wait and see if the patent bears actual importance as the Playstation 3 launch draws near. Lots of things can still change...

Haha, damn I can't keep a straight face.
But anyway this isn't an announcement and we don't even know if those two circles are Os so relax, I doubt we'll call this thing PooS here in the states or the UK or even Japan. This looks like it's probably the logo.

I can understand the infinity part. It'll most likely be an extension of their PS branding. Y'know the vertical P with the isometric S underneath. OR it could be like the PSOne font (the really curvy font) but with infinity symbol inbetween the p and s to simulate the infinate possibilities with their rip off controller.
I can understand the logic but the name is utter rubbish!

I will end with this. I think Sony is ending their own market with names like "PooS" and stealing others ideas. I support Wii60, and because of crap like this, It just makes me support more.
"A font like SpiderMan? A motion sensor controllor like the Wiimote? The shape, and most likley size of a building? Face it, Sony has no original bone in their stealing system....."

Just thought I would make sure you understood.

See what I meant? Acting like 10 year old babies. Say one thing they don't like and they cry saying we suck. Anyways, the name GameCube didn't suck. The name is only one thing. The thing that messed up the GameCube was it had no killer app. Sony's PS3 has NO killer app. The grphics are not better then Xbox 360 (Only it can have better physics, and AI.) and it runs at about $600 for a system, plus a blu-ray (Wich would be about $1000) Why would people buy a $600 system when they can get a hardcore system and a casualy system for the half the price you'll have to pay for a PS3 and Blu-Ray? Also, why would Xbox and Nintendo be dead and buried? They have great ideas. Don't steal, and have knowledge. I doubt Sony cares about the customer, as long as he buys a PS3, he's just a number.. SO PS34life, don't go acting like a smartass when your not......

Stop saying Nintendo and Microsoft don't steal because they do. Every company steals ideas from another. Its not really called stealing but improving. If its stealing, then your saying people stole the internet. The internet was intended to share information, but instead its been turned into also an entertainment medium. Another example is DSL and Web browser. Companies like Comcast had DSL so AOL decided to have one too. Microsoft had a web browser then AOL decided to have a browser. What about Tabs in a browser? Other browsers started doing the same with theirs. The list goes on and on.
Its not stealing, its taking an idea established by someone else, improve it, and add diffrent functions to it. Like Rap music for example. Rap is basically Poetry but adding music and beat to it. No one said it was copying. Same goes for gaming.
Saying Nintendo and Microsft are the only ones with knowledge shows your iggnorant. If Sony didn't have any knowledge then the Playstation wouldn't be succesful and wouldn't be the leader. There needs to be more people who think before they talk.

Anyway, Rap is considered a form of poetry. Below is the second paragraph about a study of poetry and rap:
"The music of rap has been pushed to new heights and ranges. The art form was born in the mid '70s as rhyming words telling stories about life in the streets.
Today, rap artists are not only performers but historians and writers as well. So is rap poetry? Well, poetry can be rapped, therefore rap can be poetry. "

Also, for the "Wii" name nay-sayers, chew on this:
The newest Nintendo system, the Revolution, the Wii, is just that. Nintendo doesn't aim to knock off other video game companies but to revolutionize exactly what gaming is about. People dream about virtual reality gaming in everyday households. Nintendo has a plan - they're welcoming you into it. They will become Wii.
Actually, I think that might be the topic sentence for my newest article. Remember all, as of right now, all you can do is speculate. Bill Gates once speculated that "54 KB ought to be enough for anyone." Nostradamus speculated that the world would end much before it has.
Continue with your speculation, but take it as such.

in two years you xbots and nintendo fanboys aren't going to be laughing when your system is dead and buried. They took out a patent, they're not changeing the name. go to wikipedia and look up grand theft auto 4, and you'll see rockstar took out patents for a bunch of other names. Play analog stick analog stick Station isn't that bad. PooS isn't that bad. Look at the gamecube, it has a retarded name and people actually bought it. Xbox, what kind of a *****ing name is that?
You lose. *leaves discussion*

No reason to buy it at launch, seriously. If Bluray does well, I'll buy it then, but until that time, I'm buying game consoles for games, not expensive, experimental media formats.
