Sony to lose Devil May Cry exclusivity? |

In an interview with Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu, Capcom producer Hiroshi Kobayashi hinted at the possibility of Devil May Cry heading to Wii and Xbox 360 as well, instead of just the PS3 for it's next iteration. This would be another big loss for Sony after Microsoft announced the next Grand Theft Auto for the Xbox 360.Kobayashi said he still isn't sure about the real power of Sony's new console, but expects the visuals of a new DMC title to look like the trailer shown at the E3 last year. He didn't reveal anything gameplay-wise except for a definitive change in the fighting system. In order to appeal to more gamers, it's difficulty will be lowered and controls will be made easier to master.
The Devil May Cry series was has been one of the biggest selling franchises for the Playstation 2, especially in Japan. And while Sony still holds key brands like Final Fantasy and Metal Gear Solid, that may not be enough to convince most gamers to shell out over $500 for the PS3, when they'll be able to play most of the next-gen titles on consoles half as expensive.

I want to play games that have me in mind, not " wow look how good we can make this look. Its way better and our rival"
DMC is ok but to have it on all consoles? They may be concerned with the power of the PS3, but how many multi-format games are going to take advantage of different consoles advantages? None of them, and what good is that going to do? Apart from promote laziness. Nah I'm going for innovation and Nintendo, rather than "look my console can do trees better than yours" Which in fact wont happen cos we'll have so many lazy ass multi-format games.
And yes I realise then fact the DMc may be coming to Wii too. But my point still stands ie YAWN.

1. Sony are pissing off developers, i think sega said they wernt happy with how sony treat them.
2. Because the ps3 costs so much to develop for they wont make enough profit on it so they need to release it on multi platform to get enough profits.
3. Since the ps3 is so expensive it alienates lots of the market, game designers cant afford to depend on people paying over the price to own a console. So they are releasing them on both to make sure they get a large demographic.

DMC will never go multi-platform... in fact 99.99% of PS exclusives will never see the PC or Xbox 360.
Halo and mario have a better chance of coming to the PS3 than DMC going to the 360.... lol!
Dante is THE man... can't wait for DMC4.. WOO!!!!

That is the bottom line!
Although an "update" from January 2006 says that the Playstation 3 was going to receive the game exclusively, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize that plans change. May 18, 2006 is AFTER January of 2006! This means that as of right now, the Xbox 360 is receiving Devil May Cry 4 and the Playstation 3 ISN'T!!!

The Xbox 360 seems to be a system that Capcom enjoys working on much more; Capcom is releasing games such as Dead Rising and the AMAZING Lost Planet exclusively for the Xbox 360.
Plus, games appearing on both the Xbox 360 and the PS3 are going to have special online features. For example, Resident Evil 5 will have special features for the Xbox 360, which aren't included on the PS3 version. This is nearly identical to what has happend with the Xbox 360 version of Grand Theft Auto 4. By the way, the Xbox 360 version of Grand Theft Auto 4 will now be released ONE-MONTH BEFORE the Playstation 3 version, not the same day, like previously announced. This just goes to show you that things change in the videogame industry.
From a business point of view, it made sense for Capcom to release game exclusively for the Playstation 2; there were over four times as many PS2 systems in the world as the Xbox. But, look at things from a business point of view now. The Playstation 3 is going to cost $600, and the Xbox 360 will have sold 10 million systems by the end of the year, and 15 million systems by June of 2007. Capcom would be STUPID to ignore those sales figures. Rockstar Games used to release games first for the PS2, then the Xbox. Now, they are releasing games first for the Xbox 360. This is the way it will be from now on, with virtually all game companies.
Devil May Cry 4 will appear on the Xbox 360...and Metal Gear Solid 4 will only be exclusive to the Playstation 3 for a VERY short time period.
