??? - Image 1It's time to labor in the rumor mill once again, ladies and gents. Word on the street is that Sony has acquired a new video game developer to add to its collection. Sources from Twitter indicate that Sony and the developer have reached an agreement, and we should be expecting an announcement soon.

According to Gamesblow's page, the agreement has already been reached and that they can no longer reveal more about the subject. The credibility isn't top tier, but they're quite confident about this one. The informant says that the news will break soon.

Gameknows page reveals info about the developer in question, saying that the company has some great RPGs, as well as a hint of the dev's profile. "Sony probably will be acquiring a Japanese developing company. A small to medium company. More details soon," they said.

Seems to me like the developer in question is Level 5 - a Japanese game developer with great RPGs under its belt. It's also a plus to the rumor that Level 5 Games is the one behind the PS3-exclusive, White Knight Chronicles. That's my guess. For now, it's time to wait for the announcement of this mystery developer.

if it is indeed Level 5, i guess this is the end of them making nds games and all other platform except sony's. :( they're great independent video game developers. i love their games. anyways, i'm hoping to see some more titles coming from them for ps3 besides white knight chronicles.

» My guess is also level 5

Level 5 has always been pretty close to Sony so I think Sony just might make them exclusive. It'd be nice because Sony really needs a good company like that.

I would love to see Level 5 under Sony's belt! Level 5 have produced loads of great games over the years, and I would love to see Sony giving Level 5 support (as was done with Guerilla Games and Killzone 2) so we can see more and more AAA RPGs on the PS3, there really arent enough of them at the moment, especially since WKC isnt out in Europe yer! :|

If it is level 5 that would be cool. I however would prefer if it were someone like Atlus Japan. They have made better overall rpgs than most of level 5's stuff. It would probably sell a lot of units in japan as well. From what I read on the twitter it is probably unlikely to be them though. I guess I just want a new SMT :(

I bet on Mistywalker

» Mistwalker is 360 exclusive

So that wouldn't come out.

For companies that made RPG titles for Sony and are very close to Sony, it'd actually be Level 5 or Media Vision.

Both Level 5 and Media Vision would be an amazing choice.

Level 5 is known for the Dark Cloud series, Rogue Galaxy, White Knight Chronicles, etc.

Media Vision is known for Wild ARMs mostly. Most of their games have appeared on Sony consoles. Only two games actually appeared on other consoles.

If Sony acquires either of these developers I'll be happy. Never anything less than an amazing title from these two.
