Sony: spend your 50 bucks on PlayStation Network, not Xbox Live |
Ó
Looks like Sony's not through with its aggressive campaigning for the PlayStation 3. They're not calling Microsoft an add-on peddler this time, but they do want to point out that the US$ 50 you spend for your subscription to Xbox Live can get you a sh-tload of actual content on the PS Network.
Says Sony:
Rather than paying a $50 subscription fee that competitors charge for on-line services, PlayStation Network users could put that money towards a variety of content, [like]:
- PAIN ($9.99)
- Elefunk ($4.99)
- Guitar Hero Classic Rock Track ($6.25)
- LittleBigPlanet™ Metal Gear Solid® - Level Kit ($5.99)
- Episode of Afro Samurai | Season 1 ($1.99)
- The Dark Knight Movie ($14.99)
- Samurai Sword Rack, Diesel Tiamallo Blue Hooded Top, Ligne Roset Alster Chair for PlayStation Home ($4.47)
- or -
- Super Street Fighter® II Turbo HD Remix ($14.99)
- Burnout™ Paradise (Full Retail Game) ($19.99)
- The Hoff Character for PAIN ($1.99)
- LittleBigPlanet™ Ryu of Street Fighter® II ($1.99)
- Robot Trooper and Basketball Boots for PlayStation Home ($.98)
- Savage Moon ($9.99)
Even if it is kind of a sucker punch, Sony does make a valid point. Their online service is free, while Microsoft charges for theirs. It boils down to paying to buy new games, versus paying for playing games you already own. It's an old argument we all already know, but it doesn't hurt that they gave actual examples of what we can buy with 50 bucks.

No matter which way you look at it, this is a good point. I never thought of it this way. That's a lot of content...
This is just ridiculous.
F*ck you Sony.
And I ain't no 360 fanboy either.
That is a valid point and one due noting, but that's $50 ONCE per year. So if I bought it today, I won't need to worry about it 'til 2/12/10. To me that's not bad at all. I'll spend $50 bucks or more in a week, what's once a year going to hurt? Also on average, stuff on PSN range from $3-$40 while on the 360 it ranges from FREE-$30 (The source of these facts are from this month's Game Pro).
*Gets ready with the banhammer*
Guys, behave. I don't want to use this again... Try to be civil here...
there's lots of deals right now on 13 month gold Live cards for $30 at Toys R us and plenty of other places online.
Your stupid. its a great point. suckadik
in 3 years its 150 dollars wasted
And your ignorant. theres just as much free content on the PSN as there is on the XBM.
and as for content being $40 its because its ACTUAL games that come out on disc format...xbox has NEVER released a whole game on the marketplace, only xbox games from last generation.(had my xbox first...loved it..got my PS3 later and found out how much xbox sucked.)
Haha that some good stuff right there!
Sorry, dude I couldn't resist.
replied to the wrong comment, duurr
or did I.......
Sony may have free online access but their online play is horrible. Why is xbox live so good? Microsoft requires it to be that way by forcing publishers to offer some sort of online content and if they are going to create online play, it is odne right.
ps3ispoop,
http://sites.google.com/site/sonyhatesyou
I do have a better connection to Xbox Live. Also my downloads are way faster then on the European PSN. Ok it costs me 30 euros per 13 months. So what? I get great functions in return. If I buy a 200 euro xbox 360. then it will take me 7 years before I paid as much as on a PS3. + Sony has many updates with problems. If my PS3 brakes now. I have to pay xx euros for another one. With the Xbox 360 I have 3 years wich I probably don't need since I still have my first xbox for 2.5 years now and threated it with care:). And the 360 games are always about 1 to 5 euros cheaper:). SO in the end I already gave you the 50 bucks an where are my games?:(
In conclusion: who pays that guy? Fire him and develop more games with his salary!:P
Doesn't a year membership come with one or two free XBL titles or was that promo over?
@kon_e3
It's only a waste of $150 if you don't play online for 3 years.
@Allstaraugusti ne
Just because there are currently no Xbox 360 games to download off XBL, doesn't mean that will always be the case (that was the case for the PS3 before as wel)l. Not sure if it will happen since most of the 360 users have a 20GB HDD, but you never know. As far as free content goes, I would say the 360 has the better share. I don't even recall ever seeing any movie based PS3 themes on PSN. Don't forget about Netflix! How many PSN titles are free in the US? None. How many XBL games are free in the US? 2 that I can think of, some Toyota game and Doritos game. Sure they might not be the greatest games ever, but they're are free none the less.
@ Hideo
There are 3 now:P Aegis Wings, Totemball, Doritos. The Toyota game was removed just before I could lay my hands on them:(
played both and they are basically equal ive never seen lag on either
however i could list 10 good *retail* games that could be purchased for the $200 difference in price between the consoles themselves... and that would be just as valid.
why are you even here?
go back to your one member site...
or at least pedal your *****ty site to like minded people... dumbass
ps3 barely ever fails and also has a warranty plus xbox has had alot more problems with updates and i couldnt really read the rest of it.
..Go choke on your 360. Have you forgotten the horrendous downtime and lag 360 users have gotten over the past year or two? Nothing's perfect. Personally, I barely notice a difference in online play between the three consoles. The only real difference is that the 360 has the hard hitting games that emphasize online play, making people willing to dish out the money to do that.
Why are you such a fanboy? What were you a fan of before the Xbox was released? Check out MY website.
www.fanboyssuck.com/shuttheeffup
Not really. Friend of mine who owns both consoles was explaining to me the other day the amount of stuff he's had to buy for the 360 to make it at least comparable in features to his PS3. For what you get straight away out of the box the PS3 ain't that expensive at all.
retails are $40 at least and 360 doesnt have that many good exclusives
Sony could also mention that Wikipedia has an entire section about Xbox 360 faults and as far as i can see no mention of Playstation 3 problems anywhere (unless i have missed something).
Retail games are priced between 8 and 70 euros. Thats about 8 to 70 dollars since europe is always overpricing.
@ NathanDrake. Like what? If you buy a arcade console and upgrade it. Thn you will spend 70 euros. Still not even close to the PS3 price. With WiFi it comes close and 2 years of xbox live. BUt who plays online with WiFi? Mostly it causes lagging:(
@Nathan
yep. your friend is stupid... why buy a ps3 and then a 360 and try to make it do as much as something he already has? i'm not trying to say that the 360 will match capabilities of the ps3... i'm saying it's cheaper to get and play games on.
@milo
yes. check again, platinum hits line. $20 retail full games. mass effect is the most recent edition that i know of, thats a AAA title...
@ HIDEO
LOL, Netflix? Really?!? If I wanna watch a movie on my ps3 I just dowload one or i watch whatever on HULU. Best of all both are FREEEEEE
Is not laggy....
I have played over wi-fi since I have gotten my PS3....have done wired vs Wi-Fi speedtests, no difference. I also have not noticed any lag due to the wi-fi......
Your drunk with power my friend
*You're
andd.. Gino you should have a talk with ps3ispoop!
you my good man, are an idiot wireless G operates at 54 Megabits per second MOST routers wired connections operate at a 100Megabit connection (notice the bit not byte...). on speedtest.net i believe the fastest internet in America is around 18 Megabits per second... that means regardless of which way you connect your still not using even half the connection speed. the bottle neck is your internet not the wi-fi...
Nice site dude, I signed up
Speaking to Navani BTW, not that idiot
I guess it is a valid point, but I have both consoles and gladly pay for XBL (and have gladly been paying for XBL since 2002). To me $50 per year for the fun I've had on XBL on Halo alone, not even counting all the other games, is worth much more to me than all that content Sony says I could buy instead.
when I can get xbox live free just by going to my collage and sign up for gaming class.
The only problems PS3 had was update that fail to install.
Really I dont care of what game console I got as long as its not a wii.....eh sorry but I cant risk my tv or my wall.
Or my arms and probably balls. lmfao
Fanboys just amuse me..
I want to see the Banhammer used!
...ps3ispoop...has to be ;p
I dunno what "collage" you got to, but good luck in gaming class(!) >.
I hope you look at the online stats and the list of great games that are online for Xbox 360. Stop by Major Nelson's site and see for yourself. Stop letting Sony lie to you and feed you garbage. Stand up for yourselfs. It's almost like your brainwashed Sony zombies. "
ps3ispoop,
http://sites.google.com/site/sonyhatesyou
how can you say that without having a PS3 ... go away troll boy
@Rowin26
That's right, I forgot about Aegis Wing. There was also: Carcassonne and Undertow, which were free for a while.
@ sirgrinalot
"LOL, Netflix? Really?!? If I wanna watch a movie on my ps3 I just dowload one or i watch whatever on HULU. Best of all both are FREEEEEE"
LOL, wow Really? Hulu? Yeah, enjoy your early 90's movies. You're gonna download a movie for free, then what? Put it on your HDD? Stream it from your Computer? Let's see... *downloads movie onto computer*.... check.... *streams movie from computer*... check. Your point? Keep in mind not everyone in this world is going to risk downloading movies to their HDD just so they can watch it for free. So having a Netflix account is great for 360 users because they don't have to deal with the wait. Let's.... if I had Netflix, what does that do for me on my PS3? Nothing.
how can you be in college and spell it like that...talking out of your ass? of course.
@ Hideo.
yeah but you can make your OWN ps3 themes, and download ANY user made ones offline that are almost always better than the premade ones anyways.
Enough is ENUFF! I haved had it with these mutha******* snakes on this motha******* plane! Lol! Ps3 is good! I turned mine into a Footstool! Just kidding! come on guys stop hating! Xbox is good! ya can watch netflix with 500 movies qued in your console! streamin within a minute! Hulu is free but on ps3 lots of lag and streamin issues and crappy movies! ps3 movies, come on 4 bucks when i can get them for 320 microsoft points, which is less, but even better i get them from redbox for a buck! downloading a movie form ps3 takes forever, and on 360 ya can download and start watching it within minutes of downloading! plus ya can chat with up to 8 players at once while all your buddies are either gaming on different games or watching movies! ya cant do that on ps3, just text messages, whacked! 360 if ya wanna be cheap ya can get free silver membership and still chat with friends and stream movies and demos! ps3 is good for blu ray with HDMI... but for gaming and downloads 360 for the moment and thats worth 50 bucks! I have a ps3 and purchase 60 dollars games that are now collecting dust when 50 bucks on xbox still going along ways!
@HIDEO
Why is netflix soooo amazing, the Playstation Store has a video dl service also if u aren't so inclined to enjoy " your early 90's movies". And you can actually purchase those unlike the wonderful "streaming" netflix appeal. Im glad im not watchin my hd movies by stream + lagdeath for everyone, even on a 18+mb. BTW does it even do hd? lol pft....
you can get netflix on ps3 using playon which cost 30 or 40 bucks (I forget) and that's a one time fee not 50 a year, and who cares about free games if their shovel ware full of advertisements that nobody wants to play
nobody cares about your opinion cause your european, your opinion means nothing
does it?
What? The fastest connection in america is NOT 18 megabits per second. My internet hits 20-40 megabits per second and i live in america. Wifi Does NOT LAG. If you are within 100 ft of your router, you should be fine unless you have slow internet. And QJ is based on a USA server, so when we refer to prices, we refer to $$$ not Euros. There are greatest hits games for PS3 too you know. Games on the PSN are usually better than xArcade stuff. And if someone bought a ps3 and an 360 then why would they not want it to have a hard disk/ wifi? the ps3 won't play the xbox games online, obviously.
you guys whine at everything!
STFU GET A LIFE OR A G/F
If I made a name "360ispoop" you guys wont ban me?
What a bunch of Playstation fan boys.
Not really true. Maybe your cables are hooked up improperly? I'm running on WIFI and I still GET GOOD SPEEDS. PS3 offers FULL 1080P HD MOVIES, while the 360 doesn't. I don't suscribe to netflix. And I really don't care about talking to frineds with an uncomfortable headset while playing a movie/single player game/ some other game. There are honestly more opportunities with the PS3 because you can download and stream movies directly from your PC or store them on the hard disk, which the "oh so cheap" xbox 360 arcade has a hard disk half the size of an SD movie. There are plenty ofgames on the ps3, and people complain about the price of the console and then say that they have enough money to buy like 50 games and whatnot. Uncharted Drakes fortune, Wipeout, Metal Gear solid, etc. are good games, better than anything I see the competition offer. I don't see where your $50 is going, because I would rather buy full games on the PSN or even a retail game with that $50. And remember that on the 360 that $50 would have to be paid EVERY YEAR, not just once. On the PSN, you pay for your games ONCE. Costs add up, buy an arcade xbox for $200, HDD for $100, wifi for $100, XBL for $50, and you're already more expensive than the PS3. or take out the wifi and you're only $50 away from the ps3, and in one year you'll be equal. If downloading is so great with a 512 MB hard disk on the Arcade, I feel sorry for you.
@ Allstaraugustin e
Yes, but none of those are "official" movie based themes.
@ sirgrinalot
Yes the PSN has it's own video download service... which is entirely different compared to Netflix. And when I said enjoy our 90's movies, that was aimed at your comment about using Hulu, not PSN.
Only if you look at it in terms of money. You can have x amount of content on PSN, or one year of XBL. But you can't put a price on playing Halo with friends. In other words putting a price on fun
Over the course of two years I probably spent thousands of hours laughing my ass off on Halo 2 with friends. $100 for that is cheap IMO, can't get thousands of hours of entertainment anywhere else for only $100
The PS3 still does not have a game that is simply as much fun to play in multiplayer as Gears or Halo, or has the lasting appeal of either. The PS2 never had one either. Resistance 2 is the closest it comes, and that game's MP is very good, but not on Halo's level. According to most reviews Killzone 2's MP is great, so we'll see how that plays out.
$50 for XBL is chump change if you enjoy using it and have friends on it you love playing games with
you, the one, out of the millions, can get it for free. congratulations your post has nothing to do with the discussion at hand!
So you actually paid 50 extra to play Halo with your friends. Then why not just get the computer version and play it for the price of just the game.
I personally have that "if I like a game for that system, I'm buying it" mentality. I've tried the original Xbox, and Live service for one game which was Capcom vs Snk 2 EO. After hearing about how "great" MS's online service was I was instantly sold. But, once I actually got a few matches in online, I was disappointed to find out there is still some lag - occasional stutters, it was frustrating for a fighting game. I thought damn, and I paid for this? So all this talk about "getting what you pay for, in online service" is just fanboyism. I played Cvs2 on Xbox for about 2 weeks, but what's worst is I purchased a year subscription! That's why I'm never going back to Live or Xbox consoles for that matter. Yeah label me a fanboy if you want, I don't care. I only pay currently for Final Fantasy XI which I also use my PS3 to play. I play Tekken DR online, and while there is lag, at least I'm not paying for it and often times I have near flawless matches. I'm not gonna go as far as to say MS is ripping people off but, I do think Sony makes a pretty good point. But see that's just my personal preference, since I don't care for games like Halo. I did want Dead or Alive 4 however, but I needed more than a single game to make me pay for a service I wasn't sure how dedicated I'd be to it. So yeah that's my opinion and personal experience with online gaming.
u 4got the 35 dollar controller chargers lmao. and lets not 4get that evrytime u buy i 360 game u gotta insure it for scratching, or the fact that ps3 has been out a yr less than 360 and already it has way better games, ppl r stupid... why would u wanna voice chat while watching a movie? thats like going to the movies and the damn guy infront of me is on the phone...makes me wanna punch him. but i guess thers no use watching movies in crappy quality, i mean just the other day i was watching Taken and Defiance on my ps3 for *cough a veryyy low price *cough but u kno whatever helps u sleep at night
i own both 360 and ps3 and own the hard hiting games on 360 they dont come close to ps3 games online and ps3 is more easier to use online 360 devs havent made a 60p online game and heard soon there is a game called MAG (massive action game) which is 256p online 360=cheap overated addon pedler crap
Probably everybody in this (sign language) whole class probably have it free to..
But ***** it, 30-50 bucks? is like buying a new game but renew it each year and a month.
if u dont own bth Xbox and PS dont say or dont even match those 2 together....
As Milo128 said is right...they both as good I dont see the point why its diffrent....for the Wii online play is abit sucki...sample Brawl
...ANY valid reasoning or proof whatsoever in your claims, ps3ispoop. Could you please point out WHY XBL is "so much better" than PSN?
("If they are creating online content, its done right" is not very precise, you know?)
a good comparison between 360 and ps3 amongst thousands of the same people who come on qj and talk about which is better on every single article because its so much fun voicing your opinion on consoles 4 years later after they we're launched...NOT, I HATE IT. whats better is your all going to loose so why do you continue to flame, bash, opinionate, and corrupt the comment sections of a video game site, notice how none of the journalists here reply to any of the crap you type other than facts? cuz they're smart! both ps3 and 360 are EQUALLY (come on say it with me guys it'll make you feel better!) E-Q-U-A-L-L-Y AS GOOD! its all about what YOU like and what YOUR willing to buy for THAT reason, if you dont have either of those standards in your brain stF!u and go away please, your all soo annoying. Thank you i love you all (normal people) ^_^
On a side note, this does pack a punch to the FACT list, they got a point, hell I just downloaded "Flower" and god, awesome game like really I was hooked on it for 3 hours. p.s. I have owned the 360 and it was great but then i looked at the facts, i owned one game for it since i bought it after 6 months and looked into it's future and just saw nothing at all that interested me, sold it to my friend, bought a ps3, and like wth, every month theres something i want to buy for it either it be an exclusive or also ON 360. So so far i have no regrets but im no fanboy either, so i say they're equal plain and simple, no arguing or senselessness that people just wont stop on ANY site not just here.
...we ALL believe you have a 360, we really do.
anyway, an online service is far more than how many players are in an online gaming session. those who really do have both consoles are usually intelligent enough to appreciate that between the paid online service of XBL and the free online service of PSN, there are advantages and disadvantages in both. neither is better than the other, just stronger in certain areas.
:)
both consoles are great. its down to the games people like.
unfortunately there are too many gamers who can only feel good about what they own if they convince themselves that the competition sucks. :|
Since this is about the online services I'm going to use my experience with cross platform games...
Burnout Paradise: exactly the same experience with ps3 vs 360
SFII: HD Remix: Once connected neither game lags (but why would it lag when both PSN and XBL use user's as hosts), but when playing the PS3 version the game search function does not work, it only shows full rooms, and you cannot go to the "next page" of results. Quickmatch still works mostly, but the XBL service wins for this game.
I play games on the PSN more than live simply because several of my friends stopped subscribing to XBL after Halo 3 got boring.
you say fanboys suck but yet as long as you are saying things bad about one system and something good about another you are a fan boy
Funny comment about the movie based themes... Apparently nobody in here has downloaded any of the ones that have been released. Right now I'm looking at a Batman: Dark Knight- Joker theme I bought off the PSN. Their is a few others on there which I'll let you guys know about if your interested...
Yup. I can think of a bunch of things I could purchase with that $50 that Xbox users have to pay every year!
Here is what I am reading..
"ps3ispoop - Sony may have free online access but their online play is horrible."
I like how you can't explain why ps3 online service is horrible lol :)
"Hideo - t's only a waste of $150 if you don't play online for 3 years."
Well, I play PS3 online for 3 years and keep $150 in my wallet, or buy a great exclusive like Killzone2 :)
"Master Cheif - The PS3 still does not have a game that is simply as much fun to play in multiplayer as Gears or Halo"
Have you met Killzone2? DC Universe? Socom?
The point is that every year you spend $50, it adds up.. You could buy $50 of content from PSN EVERY YEAR, or great exclusives like GOD OF WAR 3, Little Big Planet, infamous, or the 3 I mentioned above.
.....if sony europe actually gave us something worth spending that amount on, while you guys get some pretty good games/movie store!
fact is, while you guys over in the states are getting the good stuff, us lot over here have to suffer at the hands of the SCEE!!
at least the 360 is getting their stuff out worldwide!
and i don't even own a 360!!
I bought an Xbox 360 Elite on Tuesday. I'm taking it back to the store today. Netflix is low-def and grainy at best, and I had expected better. On top of that, I can't even watch Netflix via HDMI on my 52" Samsung 1080p LCD. It gives me an HDCP error and it won't display video.
Streaming Netflix was about 40% the reason of why I bought a 360 anyway. I should have done more research and read reviews of the quality before I made my purchase. But its really not my loss. I'll get my money back from Best Buy.
They think I'm trying to record (steal) their piss-poor, grainy vids... Please.. video.google.com provides me with the same quality. Just search for a movie and then sort by video length and whamo, you're watching Netflix Quality videos.
I look at the library of games that 360 has and I just don't see the "HARD HITTING" titles that everyone says the Xbox has. I booted up Gears of War 1 and saw how dated it looks now and didn't play it much. Gears 2 looks a good bit better but I just don't like the gameplay. I like the pace of Unreal Tournament III far better than Halo. They're pretty much the same game to me. For me the 360 has nothing to offer. The PS3 has fit my lifestyle far better. Its just my opinion but I've been playing Warhawk solid since it launched and I still love it. I also have a Wii that sits and collects dust.
ps3 just open it and wala! ya got a cookout! its bulky enough to turn it into a cookout grill! Makes great steaks! LMAO! ps3 is good only for blu ray and sport games! But for better and fun online experience 360 all the way! people cry about red rings of death! but if ya see how much the 360 is utilize, most people online spent good 5-8 hours a day on there xbox ! as for ps3, is like a psp,,,collects dust most of the time! plus ps3 xmb,,,,psp style! whacked! try a premium theme from 360 so much cooler plus all expansions are always first on 360! for example fallout 3, way better on 360 with add ons! ps3> wah, wah, waah! gta4 2 expansions coming soon! ps3> wah, wah, wah! bioshock,,,hand me down from 360, year later on ps3! weak! all developers wanna work with 360 instead of ps3! Like i said ps3 is only GOOOOD for MOOOVIES only! ya all say dont wanna pay for online but if ya purchase a 360 for 300 bucks! ya get one free month gold trial and spent even 50 more bucks for a year subscription, still less than the ps3 when paying 400 bucks! i love both consoles but paying 50 bucks for 360 experience is worth it! its like going to concert and ya pay the casual fee while i pay vip, i get all the shiznit experience, like backstage, autographs, all the good stuff! that what 360 experience is like! all the great features which ps3 wont deliver! but if ya hatin on 360 is cuz ya just a ps3 fanboy! stop hatin and start participating!
You're obviously about 12 years old from the sh1t you just wrote!
anyway, from the amount of drivel that came out of your mouth, you've obviously never been 100 yards near to a PS3!
the games are on par with the 360, most of the games are coming out at the same time as the 360, and are the same game, no difference! bioshock is out for the ps3 now, still a good game, and if the PS3 was that sh1t, then they wouldn't have bothered porting it in the first place!
Oh and i don't see much 360 hating! got to laugh really, because if the 360 is such a great system, then why are you muppets on the ps3 section ripping it to bits, when you should be playing all' those great games'!
maybe you should go start puberty?
one last thing, go google paragraphs!
The European store has way more games for download, than the US store. When I went to my UK account to download the Killzone demo I noticed many of the greatest hit PS3 games for sale, we only got Burnout. The UK store has Fight Night rd3 and a few others.
i can see what kind aperson you are! A HATER! gettin personal with your lil quotes about puberty and 12 years old! I own both consoles because im a true gamer unlike like ya get one thing and start to think its all better than the rest! im just saying be more open minded to different variations with techs stuff! why cry when ya can own both and get the best of both! my opinion is based on how much more funner it is when coming to online experience! i have both consoles but if i wanna impress my family or company with a good flick of course i boost up my ps3 engines but for online and family activity, and online competition...360 delivers the goodies! i have a ps3, honestly how many have they not dissapointed people with service, like home mentionns years ago and still in beta! ps3 needs to get there crap together and stop delaying so much of there online categories, example demos,.. so forth! the punchline is 360 delivers! so thats why its worth 50 lousy bucks for a whole damn year! Wow! so stop your *****in and go buy 360 and join us on the fun! (=
i can see what kind aperson you are! A HATER! gettin personal with your lil quotes about puberty and 12 years old! (=
Xbots all around me.
The only reason to buy an Xbox is because you can bootleg the games, you even get them early this way, I saw Street Fighter 4 out for download last week.
Another great thing about the Xbox is that it seams every spoiled brat under the age of 15 asked for one for Christmas. Nothings better than listening to a tool talk nonstop trash, man that's $50 well spent.
Please point out to me where I even hinted I got XBL solely for Halo with friends numbnuts. Playing Halo with friends is an example
I got XBL a little after it came out to play Wolfenstein, Counter Strike, Rainbow Six, Splinter Cell, and Mech Assault with friends. Along with the countless other amazing XBL games that came out soon after. The money I've spent on XBL since 2002 is well over the price of a PS3, maybe two of them, and I don't regret a thing
BTW PC version of Halo 2 is garbage and came out more than a year after the Xbox version. I don't know anyone who owns that POS. I have it, but only because I got it for free. Halo is an Xbox game, and is only any good on the Xbox
While this was filled with quality fanboyism, I think my favourite bit was "be more open minded", especially coupled with "the punchline is 360 delivers" and "ps3 needs to get there (their dumbass) crap together".
Dude, grow up.
bionicgizmo is a dumbass for reasons i dont feel like explaining, i just wanted to say that with 50 bucks you can get a 260 gig hdd for ur ps3 and watch and play all the games you want.
im not gonna lie, i have both a ps3 and a 360, i do prefer xbox live service, but playstation network isn't bad at all! I like the wider library of games and achievements are better than trophies, im no fanboy, i actually have always owned playstation products, im new to the xbox 360 but i like the gamerscore and achievement system better. I say its well worth the 50 dollars, but cmon, don't be hatin on the ps3 :)
I like playing online with my 360 more than my PS3. I also prefer the 360 controller. I also prefer the online games the 360 offers. I will gladly pay $38 dollars for a year of service. If Sony came out with a service that was way better than Microsoft's I'd pay 38 for that one too. Hopefully Killzone 2 will be fun online or my PS3 will be back to collecting dust. It's funny how PS3 gets all the demos weeks later than 360 also
Opinions are like *****s everyone has one. I own both systems and if you're a true gamer you don't care what you have to pay to play games with other friends. If you have to whine about paying some paltry amount(I payed $30 for 13mos of live) then maybe you need to find a new job.
Everyone can ***** about this is better than that but in reality it all comes down to your preference. I like blondes but someone else may like redheads, go for it. Just game and have fun and quit whining like a bunch of two year olds.
I'm sure pc gamers could pull an argument against consolers. Someone may like an apple vs. a pc. Democrat vs Republican. North vs. South.
Truth is we all like to play games and live our lives to our fullest. The only people who like to create these obnoxious wars are the people who are making a hell of a lot more money than we are. You are just fueling the bottom line of corporations.
Here's a thought. Instead of creating wars against each other, enjoy what you have. Whether you or your parents buy the games in this horrible economy, be glad you're not sitting on a corner asking for something to eat to live another day.
for you people who pay needlessly for XBL online accesshttp://www.mindpowernews.com/SocialConformit y.htm
while your right in that i was off (by quite a bit) in terms of connection speed) a lot of isp's use burst speeds where you get so much speed for the first bit (which would make for ideal webbing..) as you can see in t
he link i have provided the current fastest isp is connecting at 46Mbs... which still is not enough to push Wireless G to its limits.. let alone g with speedbooster...

1)netflix requires a gold account...
2)a standrad definition movie (a dvd) at most can store just over 8 GB.... so how does a 20 GB hdd not be able to fit it? and considering its just the movie your downloading the most ive downloaded was 1 and a half GB...
I love my PS3, and i rarely use my Xbox 360, but i agree that Xbox Live is much faster and well organised. But that is bound to be the case when you're paying so much to use it as opposed to the free Playstation Network. It doesn't bother me too much as i would rather play online with the PSN for free, instead of paying for Xbox Live with a bit of a faster service etc.
In the comment way up there you said something about 50 bucks for playing Halo with friends then another one about another Halo, so isn't it like saying you paid 50 bucks to play halo. And it's not awful reading comprehension, it's just that I saw the same comment posted by you.
Isn't the speed of the connection through those service based on your internet connections?
you know. i wonder. will Sony and Microsoft ever shake hands? i mean. there ARE games that are sold to both consoles you know. Like Call of Duty!. and i wonder. i think it'll help IF! they manage to get BOTH consoles going online on the same server. meaning. guys who play COD in PS3 and X360 can play together. it'll be a step in i think a GOOD relationship.
That's almost as posible as God and the Devil joining forces...
No, it is nothing like saying I got XBL solely for Halo. I said XBL WOULD BE worth it just for Halo 2/3 if you have friends to play it with, since that is something PlayStation cannot match, not that I got it for Halo only
And let's do some simple reasoning here
1. I said I got XBL shorty after it came out, in Jan 03. It released Nov 02
2. Halo 2 came out almost two years after I got XBL, in Nov 04
So why would I have gotten XBL for a game that wasn't out yet? Do you even know what XBL and Halo 2 are?
The same could have been said for seeing Sonic the Hedgehog on a Nintendo system. I would have never thought it would be possible when I was young.
i never really understood fanboyism. who here is sony or microsoft ilegitimte sons? thats wht i thought. both systems are great without a doubt. love my 360 to bits but just bought a ps 3 two days ago and it most certaINLY rocks. enjoy which ever console u have. and if u have both: absolute world domination. ps.. kilzone 2 blew my socks off ragdoll style. lol. my point is, as long as we keep seing quality from both sides, i will always be a happy customer and and a satisfied fan. But never a fanboy. lets leave that to the 4th graders
i'm a new member to qj, but isnt $50 still $50 wheter you spend it on something you like, or something you dont necissarily need... like XBL.... maybe you'd like to talk to friends for free, or maybe you like to pay for it.. to each their own
how many xx's does it take to make a whole euro?
lolz i love misquoting people
"I have to pay xx euros for another one."
with you about leaving the fanboyisms to the 4th graders, and EVERYONE should be bashing on the wiis
you call him stupid when you offer no counterpoint of your own!?!?!
you sound like the stupid one here
xbox live is awesome! PSN is for homos!
Halo is still da BEST!
everyone just chill out are you all on crack or something ps3 online + free
xbox 360 online + pay
get over it
ravel ravel ravel ravel ravel
I have both an XBOX 360 and a PS3 and they both have their disadvantages and advantages.
Now, I don't play games online. Multi-player isn't my forte. I'm more of a single player person.
I have an XBOX Live silver account and I also signed up for PSN.
I mainly purchase the arcade games that are on XBOX Live and PSN.
