Sony sends out Lair Reviewer's Guide |

In light of the mixed reactions about Lair and its controls, Sony recently sent out copies of a full-color Reviewer's Guide of Lair. The full-color 21-page booklet seems to instruct those who had been tasked to critique the game on how to properly utilize the game's controls for maximum dragon-slaying fun, as well as elaborate illustrations and Lair lore.
While it's common for review copies of games to come with fact sheets - and retail copies with manuals - this certain reviewer's guide contains six pages extensively discussing the game's controls. That's almost a third of the whole book!
Motion-sensing control quirks aside, Lair itself looks quite the epic game, with you and your dragon taking on sea serpents, armored beasts of war, entire platoons of soldiers, and even enemy dragons. It's also one of the more visually-stunning games to date. Let's keep our fingers crossed, then, that Sony and Factor 5 use what they've learned in Lair and create a new title that would once again blow us away.

but some things are a bit crap about the controls, for instance if your trying to kill to dragons flying next to eachother, but on is lower that the other, u cant target the other dragon while yor fightin because the camera only pans horizontally.
this game is awful worst game ever this crap is just wow no words can express how bad this game iz warhawk iz good though stay way from this game.

you know the controls are rubbish when the publisher has to send out a 21 page booklet just to explain the controls. sony should just drop it and move on, and not waste time trying to defend an overly complex control scheme.
My 8 year old plays this game with ease.If you really have that hard of a time playing this game,thats sad.
People that complain obviously have never gave it a good try because the controls are not that hard and the game responds well. This is by far one of the best games ever made on any console and yes that includes the second rate X360.

Maybe if the release a demo of this game everyone can know how good or bad is this game... there are so many games that have low scores and is really an awsome game... but so low? I doubt it... but with the update of better control and someone of my friend list that don't like it and after the update he like it then the only bad thing is that... just release a demo to move to another subject because I'm sick of lair news now
The game sucked, why is that so hard to understand? Its not just the controls either, its the gameplay. Some of the tasks are hard to figure out and before you know it you have failed. Even the creators of this game feel it was horribly rushed. Sony are looking for a fast track out of this sales issue of theirs, and in turn are hurting the games in the end.
It's not good enough for you to say you enjoyed the game despite what others say, oh no, you have to say it's by far one of the best games ever made. Obviously your automatic Sony defence mechanism kicking in there. As others have said, it's not JUST about the controls, the game itself is subpar. The controls arguement is being used as the favourite excuse by those seeking to defend a poorly designed game. Face it, Lair is at best an average game, but to many it's a rather poor game. There are many PS3 games out now that are better than Lair, there are many 360 games that are better than Lair, but if you want to think it's one of the best games ever made, then go ahead and delude yourself. At least you're one of the tiny minority that loves that poor excuse for a game.

it wasn't that good a game. and i'm not talking about the controls. the mission were terrible, the objectives stupid, and it was just too easy overall. the controls were pretty easy, so i don't know what people are complaining about. if you complain about the controls then you just suck at the game.
The problem is that Sony wants to counter the other companies big guns this month with Heavenly Sword and Lair, and it backfires at them, Heavenly sword get average reviews and Lair get mediocre reviews, and that's not good when you got Metroid Prime with and 8.5 / Bioschock with 9.8 and Halo is MS biggest gun this year, and Sony has nothing to throw at it. Tha's why they are so desesparately trying to said that this game are good, that reviewers, doesn't know how to play games, they need something to offer at this moment to their fan base. Warhawk is an excellent offering, they should hype it more, is the game at this moment that can helped the PS3 sales, if they focused more on it.
they failed big time and this suppose to "save" ps3. Even big gaming website gave this game a low grade. This game is not as good as bioshock, halo 3 or mp3. In fact this game is horrible lol. They ruin such a good story line with such a *****ed up game play which is boring like hell.

(Hint, they don't appear to have the ability to own Lair). Halo 3 sucks, hard. I haven't played it, but Xbox fands like it. So it sucks. There, I'm using your logic now.

I just find it kinda interesting that nobody can come up with a single damn 360 exclusive thats OUT except Gears to say "Lol, ur console sux" to others, so they have to bring out Halo 3, an unoriginal game that hasnt' been RELEASED yet. If all I was going to do was play Halo for five years like many of my friends that have xbox/360's, I'd shoot myself. Metriod Prime, maybe, as it's an actually unique FPS, but halo+no go.

Instead of using each opportunity to have a go at Halo (for some reason) or any other 360 game, why don't you just give us YOUR opinion of Lair. Be truthful now! Have you played it? Is it one of the best games ever made ;)? Come on, stop attacking the attackers (i.e. the easy targets) and share your opinions of Lair itself.

I own a PS3 and 360 and love them both... But honestly, Lair blows chunks. Sometimes its gorgeous, sometimes not. The controls are pretty hit-and-miss. In fact, they are my biggest complaint with the game - even though I do kinda like the six-axis control, it can be cumbersome in some situations. Lair is not an awesome game, just a "good one". 7.5 out of 10 IMHO.
"stop attacking the attackers" Throughout this article, I see you consistently defending XBox fans who are on a PS3 games article, using an article about a PS3 game to attack the PS3, while at the same time calling out Sony fans like Barakku who are defending (note this - defending, NOT trolling and attacking like kaishou, WHO you happen to be DEFENDING by attacking Barakku). So what does that say about your impartiality? If you are REALLY impartial and not a 360 fanboy, why not try calling out 360 fanboys who are on this article, attacking the PS3 without reason? They have no business being here. Otherwise stop criticizing Sony fans for their console-of-choice and their console's games.
