Sony responds to analyst: our line-up's great, still no PS3 price cut |

Yesterday, analyst Jesse Divnich prophesied some doom and gloom for the PlayStation 3 if Sony won't introduce a price cut. Essentially, he said that a great line-up of games just can't compete with a cheap Xbox 360 console. Something he's said many times before.
Sony listened to his warnings.
And then ignored them.
Sounds like a Greek tragedy waiting to happen. Sony's sticking to their guns, saying that there still won't be any price cut for the holidays, saying that:
As previously discussed we aren't making any price moves this holiday season. In my opinion, we have the best line up of any PlayStation generation going into this holiday and consumers will be very receptive to it.
With PS3 titles for this including Resistance 2, LittleBigPlanet, SOCOM, MotorStorm: Pacific Rift to name but a few of our multiple exclusives, combined with PlayStation Home and increasing multimedia features for the hardware, we expect to have continued momentum going into and beyond this holiday season.
It's looking like the battle for the holidays is cheap hardware versus great software. The clincher is, the Xbox 360 will also have Gears of War 2. Would a cheap console coupled with GoW2 really steer consumers away from the likes of LittleBigPlanet and Resistance 2?
Well, whatever happens, the holidays will at least be entertaining, watching Sony and Microsoft try to beat each other - and seeing Nintendo still come out on top. Irony is also a great part of Greek tragedy.

360 has seen 2 price cuts this year, PS3 just one. Sony had their ass handed to them last holiday season due to it being a new console, HD war, not many good titles, and price.
I guess they want to get their ass handed to them again this holiday season, which is exactly what's going to happen if they don't drop the price on the PS3.
Before the fanboys jump in...I only own a PS3, not a 360. I've been very patient and supportive of Sony's strategies this year...but this is by far the stupidest move of all.

Sony doesn't need a price cut. Playstation 3 will be here for years to come.
Xbox 360 is leafing like a tree Biff.. Remember Xbox? $140 at xmas '04 THEN BOOOM gone spring '05. Shut down. Can't play very many Xbox games on a 360....
So, Sony is fine, BIG titles are here, and still on a down hill race..FASTER AND FASTER the next gen titles will be rolling in.
Better pray they make a PlayBoxStation X in 2013.....Or you just might have to get what you pay for. Me, I have a $399 luxery multi media HD gaming and home theater device.....Not a $199 smoldering heap of *****!
