Sony: PSN now fully restored, outage due to leap year reading |

Rejoice! The PlayStation Network service is now fully restored! After a major meltdown yesterday, it looks like the outage yesterday has been resolved as promised. Sony has promised that a patch will be released come this morning, and now, they've released an official announcement proclaiming that the fix has been effective.
`

"We are aware that the internal clock functionality in the PS3 units other than the slim model, recognized the year 2010 as a leap year. Having the internal clock date change from February 29 to March 1 (both GMT), we have verified that the symptoms are now resolved and that users are able to use their PS3 normally.
If the time displayed on the XMB is still incorrect, users are able to adjust time settings manually or via the Internet. If we have new information, we will update you through the PlayStation.Blog or PlayStation.com. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused."

If it were related to the leap year, it would not have happened *ON* the 28th.

Was there any possible way to fix the clock manually from 12/31/99 yesterday? It would've prevented all this BS. I didn't turn my PS3 on and it said 3/1 this morning.
Actually, now that I think about it, it might've only affected the date of the console if it tried to connect to a server. So anyone could've turned on their console, changed the date to 3/1/2010 and it might've worked. But don't most internal clocks use a certain date as the "beginning of time" (like 12/31/69 in Unix) to measure the date when connected to other machines?
Meh, it's fixed now and Xbox fanboys had their 24 hours of glee.

Seriously, get a life. I don't think anyone else other than PS3 users who couldn't access PSN or games even gave two sh*ts about this. No offense. That's just how it is.
And I'm getting tired of all the PS3 fanboys complaining about imaginary 360 fanbots, most of whom are just PS3 fantrolls in disguise.

I read an article that said they lost their Heavy Rain trophies, but when they launched the game after the fix it restored their trophies. Try that.
