That Sony is gearing up for the launch of its PS3 is old news. The new news is that Molly Smith, Sony's PlayStation PR Chief resigned after a 10-year run with the company. Smith, in fact, was at the hype-helm for PS1 and PS2. What exactly does a PR person do? In a nutshell, PR people are in charge of PR stunts and spins - beefing up the image of an individual, a company, or in Smith's case, a product.A PR stunt can make or break a company or a product. For example, a department store decided to drop live turkeys from a helicopter as a Thanksgiving PR stunt. The result was less than spectacular. Turkeys can't fly and the birds ended up as feathered bombs falling on shoppers' heads in the parking lot.
Molly Smith, as far as we know, didn't pull a turkey while with Sony so we don't think she left for bungling things up. But having dabble in PR ourselves there are other things that could make us hand in our resignation letter. Like if things are so bad no amount of stunts or spins can bring back the love (e.g. Michael Jackson's career). We are not saying Smith left because of the PS3 situation. Maybe she just wants to spend more time with her family. Isn't that what former Press Secretary Scott McClellan said when he left the White House?

I don't think the advertisements and exposure of what the PS3 can actually do is up to par this time around and I think Sony knows that seening how everyone online is talkin ***** about it. If you spend a little time doing a little research aboutthe product and stop reading MS fanboys posts and comments, you will reasize that the PS3 out peforms and delivers more than any system. Perhaps the Wii provides a little innovation to the controler but you try swinging you arms over and over again for 2-3 hours straight everyday OR MORE. I'll see you at the Ciropractor.
Sony isn't doing as well so far because they aren't releasing enough information. The head of PR "quit" probably because sony wanted to fire her but dut to respect from her previous performace from the PS1 and PS2, they let her quit.

Anyway, I personally think Sony is doing the right thing on holding out on information at this point. When someone keeps talking crap about you, you don't just turn around and talk crap about them; it's just not the moral thing to do no matter how badly you want to.
What about the idea that Sony wants to withhold information until the right time, TGS and launch. Sony didn't reveal all they could have at E3 because you have to save some of the momentum until right before you release a product in order to prove that your product is superior. I really think that Sony will drop the bomb at TGS and prove their price is worth it.

secondly, do people really believe sony are gonna ***** up everything. were talking about one of the biggest electrical company's in the world, not to mention they've launched 3 consoles in the past so its not like they have experience.
I work in retail in the Uk, and in the shops i work in, we struggle to sell anything xbox360. not that its a bad console, as i own one, but the demand for playstation 2 and now playstation 3 is far higher.
all people seem to do here is report on bogus stories and slag off a console that isnt even out yet and dont even know half the details about ps3 that we would like.
And all you fanboys drive me nuts! the xbox360 isnt all its cracked up to be either, i own one and the games look great......thats it. its just like me having a nicer xbox, not to mention ive had 3 360's because they brake down like crazy, so not everything is perfect from microsoft either. plus im annoyed that unless ur a fan of first person shooters, there isnt much point in owning a 360, because thats all there basically is (just like a pc, too many fps than we need, more sports and action please)
anyway, balls to this, im off to kick ass on pro evo 5
