keeps getting better? Thanks to SaMaRaiXeNoN for giving us this heads up. Apparently, Sony just can't seem to stop furnishing us with firmware updates. Our tipper right here, along with other members of our forums, has claimed that the 1.32 update is already out via Network update.

Obviously, it's not a monthly thing as we thought it would be. It's actually a weekly thing. Well, so far, that's how it's been. I mean, how long has it been since we posted on 1.31? There are some speculations as to the possibility that Sony is actually patching things up. But, we won't really be sure until later, we guess.

Anyhow, just head on over to the official site (through our read link) for more details on the update. Just be patient for the listing, but most definitely, it's gonna be up real soon.

probably fixes more BC titles being playable. The last one was pretty much all BC fix.

No body cares if your first. Get a life.

» heheh

yet another in a long line of sloppy updates to a rushed console.

i'm glad sony is trying to fix problems with the ps3 in a timely fashion, however ps3 fanboys would of roasted the 360 if it needed updates weekly to semi-weekly.

by Lethal - 2006-12-21 02:29
» lol

We didnt need to roast the 360. Seemed the system did pretty well roasting itself the first few months it was out ha ha.

by Scythe - 2006-12-21 02:39
» Yep

Lol true true that was so true

by Vietone - 2006-12-21 03:41
» These updates are great

At least Sony is spending time to fix stuff for BC.

While Microsoft has had an entire year to get more Xbox games to work on the Xbox360, they still barely have meet the demands of their loyal gamers.

While all the PS3 needs is small minor updates to get all the games working on it.

In the end, weekly updates to fix problems is better then the microsoft way. Several months between updates just to release a big update.

» its true

i got my ps3 today and when i went to connect it asked me to upgrade to 1.32 or w/e i dont think i noticed a diff.

by KZ - 2006-12-21 07:03
» Fixing it's broken promises??

MS never mention that their backwards compatability was going to run 100% like Sony.

Minor updates? Hahahaha.. how would you really know?

How many systems will get bricked because of the frequent updates?

by Alex - 2006-12-21 07:29
» Well, apparently the updates aren't bricking consoles at all.

Microsoft could learn a thing or two from Sony. Instead of waiting 3 months at a time, Sony's taking initiative and putting them out on almost a weekly basis, adding even more functionality and security to an already great system.

by truth - 2006-12-21 08:12
» ?

ok firmware updates versus...

overheating problems

and no followup shipments for months.

you want to talk about rushed?

hush puppy

by V - 2006-12-21 11:19
» ?

This is the dumbest logic ever, why would you want to chance a bricked console every week with an update? And being employeed at a software company I know they're not keeping these firmware updates in QA nearly long enough if they are coming out every two weeks.

by hmm - 2006-12-21 11:37
» oooh

that's a good one ^^

by hmm - 2006-12-21 11:39
» why

are updates bad? I mean if they need fixes I'd take an update weekly for a faster fix rather than waiting a month or more till it's "okay" to run an update again. Honestly think of something else to bash then a helpful tool

by hmm - 2006-12-21 11:41
» to V

just cuz MS bricks consoles after updates doesn't mean it's the standard for the others out there. Sure Nintendo did too on their first one but they accually replaced them

*****, i didn't know baby's popped out this fast?

by darknight3050 - 2006-12-21 14:42
» we'll, i just talked to sony and...

im just soo excited that i got a ps3 and all, but i plugged in my webcam but didnt work, but its integrated mic did, and all that can run(i think) is linux fedora 5.0, and theyve told me they're "expanding the system's horizons" to it's full potential by adding drivers to more hardware and etc... to make it functional with more devices, but screw it, i want windows on my ps3!!!

by Spector - 2006-12-21 16:57
» bricking

First off great job by Sony for giving out these firmware updates and no news of mass bricking like 360s.

V your arguement about QA doesn't seem to hold any ground seeing as these updates are working better than 360s per say. If you wanna talk about someone who should do more QA I'd say complain about Microsoft (more of it on their operating systems would be nice too).

by xche78x - 2006-12-22 01:22
» yeah

we all do!

eyetoy does work! ^_^

by KZ - 2006-12-22 09:57
» I wonder why?

I guess there's enough PS3, Blu-Ray DVD hacks, etc. to add numbers to the tally!

Get off his (V) ass cause in the end it'll be I told you so just like everything else!

I hope everyone saw the changelog that was released by Sony:

What's new/fixed (since v1.31):

* The online gaming functionality of the system software has been updated.

I guess you need a firmware update for EVERY change huh'?

And did you know that the software department and gaming department at Microsoft is different? How about Sony's QA with the exploding batteries?

by Spector - 2006-12-22 16:24
» KZ uhh..

The fact you are trying to say not having a good stream of firmware updates to correct any issues is a good thing is well... not intelligent.

And since firmware updates make the changes it's nice to just have a stream of small firmware updates that go quick then big large files that lag up servers and such.

OMG LOL exploding batteries. Comparing firmware QA to battery testing is quite a difference, and a bad comparison to make. You really zinged Sony (if only you said that when the exploding batteries where considered current news).
