Sony - LittleBigPlanet delay was about respect - Image 1For such a highly anticipated game like LittleBigPlanet, it's understandable that its delay caused quite a stir... to put it mildly. Sony sticks by its decision though.

Echoing the words of Phil Harrison, former Sony exec, Sony Computer Entertainment UK Managing Director Ray Maguire has this to say about the delay:

[It was] disruptive in terms of marketing plans and getting things sorted... we had to shift some TV.

In the end I think for those people who have been waiting for the product it's a frustration. It's only a couple of weeks of a frustration but nevertheless it's a frustration. You can do nothing other than say, 'sorry about that'. And I hope the wait is worth it, and I believe it will be.

[...] I just think it's about respect. We weren't to know that a product (the track removed from the soundtrack) that's been in the marketplace since 2006 by a Grammy award-winning artist would have this kind of effect.

But I don't want to see anyone upset by something that we've done and we have to put it right so we did put it right. I think it was the right move.

Anyway, the game's here now, right? Problem solved.

us in the uk are still without it so where the nevermind its here comes in. and they respect the game content but not the users, ive seen no demos or extension of beta trials so their is obviously no respect to the customers who have already paid and are left without, thanks sony

» Bah..

Oh boo hoo, it'll be out in a few days, i hate it when people think they have a right to complain when a game is delayed 0.o

» to be honest

i couldnt care about it im waiting for resistance 2, but the other half wont shut up about it, and yeh i do have the right to complain seeing how sony delay everything in this country but its ok for u us folk and sony didnt have to pull it, but they made sure they stocked up in the us first, y? favoritism? yeh the game is gonna be good, the uk got in the beta later aswell and had less time, i ordered mine after the beta closed and considering its already a year late i think when they actually put down a date they should stick by it, so much to world wide release in one day

» but hey

like you said itll come when it comes and this isnt aimed at mm even though they produced it and went through every part of it, they had it patched and sony decided to pull it, the author of the song even said it was praising the al quarn, this being the case no one would of minded it, just be thankful that someone post with an actual opinion on the matter than some *****gy kid going first post, but it would be nice to see the demo which will be on the us psn first (obviously)

» No, it wasn't.

Seeing how it sat around on the back shelves of retail stores all over the country for a week, rather than being recalled, it seems much more likely that they held it back to fix some killer glitch.

» WTF!?!?!?!?!

WTF are you guys talking about? The game was already released in the US. At least at Gamestop, Walmart and Best Buy of which are all sold out now and put all copies out on the shelves. I can't speak for anyone else or the UK.

Anyway, I agree, this was all BS. The Muslim community came out and ARGUED that the game should NOT have been delayed. Then even claimed they DID NOT LIKE the fact that it was delayed.

Sony failed.

» killer glitch?

dude the only killer glitch would be with the sony firmware with most games that come out and every time they seem to release a new feature in this case divx vod, if their was a killer glitch i havent heard of it and ive spoken to people with the origional copy without updating it, sony pulled it for the reasons of not upsetting the muslim community which they did by delaying it, it was nothing offensive to them or their beliefs but it was sonys belief that they couldnt let the game be released like this even though the patch was made before the game was set to release

» WTF!?!?!?!?!

If there was a glitch, I never found it. I had the game from the original release date and played it with zero problems.

Sony just bit this one...HARD!
