Sony: Lots of studios are working on 3D PS3 games |

There won't be a shortage of 3D games to play when 3D gaming hits the PS3. According to Sony, a lot of first-party studios are hard at work on such games for the Sony home console.
Here's what Ian Bickerstaff, senior engineer with Sony Computer Entertainment's UK-based stereoscopic 3D team, told Gamasutra, "It's all a bit confidential, but a lot, let's put it that way. We've been amazed by the enthusiasm from the developers."
Bickerstaff also touched on 3D gaming's biggest hurdle: the 3D-capable TVs. "I think [3D gaming uptake is] going to depend on the uptake of 3D televisions," he said.
"We're not going to spend crazy, crazy amounts of money [on 3D games] expecting everyone tomorrow to have 3D TVs, clearly," said Bickerstaff. "But, we believe this is the future, and three or four years from now, you won't be able to buy a television that doesn't have a 3D capability."
Sony plans to release a line of 3D-capable Bravias this summer.

Only thing we know about it is that is uses stereoscopic 3D
And I know that there has been some very expensive glasses from nvidia for PC gaming wich uses the Eclipse method (Active LCD glasses that shuts at one eye at the time to create the illusion that you see two pictures at the same time). These glasses wont work with the cinemas.
New 3d movies like Avatar uses the RealD Cinema wich has an exclusive agreement with Sony to provide technology to project 3D movies with the Sony 4K projector. RealD Cinema is a stereoscopic 3D metod. The glasses are polarized and sorts out the two pitcures displayed to each eye. I dont know.. This might be possible on a 3d TV two.

So if Sony is going to bust out RealD on the PS3....where's the TVs?
Also, why is Sony selling shutter glasses for a $133 a pop?

It is nice to know that when I do buy a new TV my PS3 will be capable of utilizing all of the features. Gee, just might be future-proof.

By your logic, we wouldn't even have electricity.

Also, FYI "catstrophal" is not a word.
You're so full of yourself troll

Nvidia have done it to get people to try 3D without paying hundreds, why can't Sony do it for folks who can't afford 2 grands worth of new tv?
Once people try 3D, they will then be more inclined to save for an investment into the technology (and to get rid of the "everythings red or blue" problem, lol). I have tried 3D with the old ELSA revelators, which is basically the same concept, and it is amazing, but until I have a spare £2000 kicking around, I don't see why we can't still enjoy 3D gaming with our inexpensive red-cyan glasses?

I also have a 120hurtz tv.

The TV has to support 3D. Not just be able to do 120Hz. However, a lot of 120Hz TVs will get firmware upgrades to add a 3D mode. So check your vendor.

I just really don't see the brilliance with the present 3D technology. It's just something popping a little bit out of the screen. It just seems like something a casual gamer would buy, if you ask me.
