PlayStation Store - Image 1For those who download content from the PlayStation Store using multiple PS3s, listen up. Sony Computer Entertainment has revised their Terms of Service to limit the activation of PS3s per account and to limit the use of downloaded content across the activated PS3s. Get all the details in just a bit.

The ToS changes apply to the PlayStation Store downloads, specifically:
  • In-game items or content that you have purchased may be downloaded from PlayStation®Store. Pursuant to the particular terms of use that govern a specific in-game item or content you have purchased, you may use that item or content on up to three (3) different PlayStation®3 systems that have been activated for your account. You may deactivate or activate specific PlayStation®3 systems, as long as the maximum activated number of PlayStation®3 systems for your account at any given time is three (3).
  • There are two sets of usage schemes for content, corresponding to two categories of in-game items and other content that you purchase.
    • The first category, called Network Content, can only be accessed by one activated PlayStation®3 system per day and only by the account through which the Network Content was purchased. Network Content cannot be used on two different PlayStation®3 systems within a twenty-four (24) hour period.
    • The second category, called Local Content, once installed on a PlayStation®3 system by the account that purchased it, can be accessed by other accounts on that same PlayStation®3 system.
SCE has yet to clarify the rationale behind the changes, but it appears we'll just have to suck this one in.

Thanks John D.

it was just a typo....or that's what Sony's saying anyway. I don't see how they could mistype a whole paragraph though. My thought is they changed it and people flipped out and then they changed it back and said it was a typo.

but as of now it's STill 5

How exactly this would work for pre-existing accounts/content is beyond me.

It says specific what do they mean by that, can we deactivate our account from ps3s that we don't own or something?

You do remember this is Sony. And they have that innate ability of not being able to keep secrets very well.

It always a purposely and well placed slip up which is usually a way to tip us off to a big event or release. I'm thinking this is another one of them.

the ps3 systems if you send them a receipt of the console which i find ridiculous. when i went to my friends house i signed into his ps3 with my account now that ps3 was returned because it was defective; and then he got another which i signed into as well which now his friend took. now they wont deactivate those system because i don't have the receipts.

If you have 5 houses each with its own ps3 i think you can afford to download a 10 dollar game 5 times. If you can't then sell one of your houses.

If you're going to lie about your life at least try making it seem mildly real so there's a chance that some sucker will believe you.

BTW I have 6 houses with 30 ps3s. One for each bedroom so I win :)
