According to Peter Dille, Senior Vice President, Marketing & PlayStation Network, you'll start seeing several new TV ads from now on through the holiday season:
YouÂ’ll see and hear about all the broad features and benefits this amazing device has to offer across multiple media including TV, radio, online, retail and social networking outlets. A total of 9 TV spots will roll out throughout the holiday, each highlighting a different benefit and feature of the PS3. So whether youÂ’re a hardcore gamer or a Blu-ray enthusiast, you will have something to takeaway from these ads.

thats just because they are planning to re-release all ps1 and ps2 games via psn. also if people cared about backwards compatibility so much they would have gotten a 60 gig and stopped *****ing, or kept their ps2s... i did both and i haven't played a ps3 game in 2 years

I agree with the first Reply'er of your post, if you wanted BC you should have bought earlier, as i think i remember Sony talkiing about the loss of BC sometime before they removed it. or you should just have kept your PS2 (or buy one now!) and i do believe too that Sony is planning something later on with PS2-games on the PS-Store, but who knows... just buy a PS2, it's not lie it cost' anything now :P and i wish we had that campaign over here in Europe... ours is the usual Playstation-promotion stuff, but this is actually a bit Humoristic... and now i know a few will probably flame because i thought this was slightly funny, but that is my oppinion, live with it.
I've seen in some articles from the comments saying that that Sony would re-release titles for PSN, yes. I just find it funny how they just come out with this campaign saying "It only does everything" around the time they cut the feature of BC. I'm fine with my 20 GB PS3, I play my ps1 games as often as I play my ps3 games. One thing though, my disc couldn't eject or take discs, so I took the liberty to modify the ps3 disc drive to be able to just swap out discs. Thus making it easy as open the top, pull off the white magnet holding the disc, taking off disc, and placing disc, and back on with the magnet and with the top. I don't see myself being able to have anymore mechanical problems with my ps3. Sorry, that was off-topic.
every ps3 isb backward compatible with ps1 games, and thos ads are really fun
Will you people stop *****ing and moaning for BC ALREADY!! I mean someday like a year or 2 later they might put all of their PS2 games onto the PSN. But not right now the software to run without the ps2 chip is just not there.
It only does everything.... but play PS3 games. Well my PS3 anyways. It only does what it was built to do, which is not "everything"
Sony's marketing must have joined forces with Apple's marketing. The PS3 cannot do everything, only what it can do. Considering i can do all of those things and a HELL of alot more on my PC.

seriously, stfu, there is a different between false advertising and a slogan like "it only does everything." Are you going to sue lays because you can eat just one chip or aero chocolate because you can't taste the bubbles melting?
is fully bc. I'm so sick of people asking for bc. They way I look at it is....we 20Gb/60Gb PS3 owners payed a early adopter premium for bc. I think it's more like a hidden Thank You from Sony. I hope they keep things the way it is and not add PS2 bc. I feel proud to be a 60Gb PS3 owner:) Even though I don't really play PS2 games on my PS3.

No need for PS2 games, this is the next-gen, if you wish to play PS2 games go play them on a PS2. People should have bought a PS3 early like us 60Gb owners.

im not a fanboy of either console even though i do prefer the ps3, but im not like "everything sony owns xbox sucks blah blah blah" but anyway im just wondering why so many people complain about BC on the ps3 when the 360 has a very limited amount of original xbox games that can be played on it and nobody complains about that? (correct me if im wrong on this one)

at least the 360 still has BC on it cause unlike other people I like playing PS2 games still...like GTA:san Andreas is an awesome game...and even with component cables on a Plasma/LCD I say that it looks better on the PS3 and I stress the "I"

I like having the backwards compatibility. Why would you not want more options and features? I still enjoy playing my old PS2 games from time to time. Why would I want to rebuy my old games again if they became available on the Playstation Store? That's just stupid.

Where the hell have you been? BC for ps2 was cut a long time ago. It was only available for a limited time after the launch of the system so stop acting like they just now are taking it out. Its been out for a while now, you should have done your *****ing then an been over it already. Who the hell even plays ps2 games on their ps3 anyway? I haven't played a ps2 game on my ps3 since they launched and that was just to try it out.

If you bought a PS3 to play PS2 games, then you sir are retarded. Not only that but if you own ps2 games then chances are you have a PS2 as well, so just connect it. The PS3 has ps1 BC, since it was Sonys first console then its just like the Xbox with its predecessor . The cost of BC will make the PS3 cost more and then you'll have more people ***** about it even more. You can't please everyone can you? BTW lets say adding Bc cost $20 on each PS3, that's over $20,000,000 for 1 million consoles sold.
