The latest haul of leaked court documents indicate a few more prominent names in the PS3 hacking scene. Among them are KaKaRoTo, Graf_Chokolo, Hermes, Kmeaw, and Waninkoko, who recently released his PS3 CFW 3.55 v2. The document requests "all information and documents related to the use of your service(s) to register, create, maintain and/or use accounts associated with the user name."

Recently, Sony also turned their attention to the hackers' Github page, where they are able to share their PS3 codes online. Notices and information have since been taken down and Github has been subpoenaed.
Previously, Sony had been able to secure a temporary restraining order against Geohot and all those mentioned in the case. Once they are able to pin the others down, they will also be served with the same papers.

I've always wondered, though, what these prominent hackers were thinking when they use their real names and stuff. I mean, even if you only go by pseudonyms and you use proxies for everything, you can be tracked down... but why make it easier for them by using real personally identifying information?

ok so your admitting that you do not own any of the game systems you have paied for. that in fact. sony owns anything in your home withthe name sony on it. microsoft owns anything in your house with the name microsoft (this includes the computer you use to respond so arrogantly with) as well as nintendo owning anything in your house with the name nintendo on it. i say screw that. i paid my money for my systems they may have the name Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft on em but it doesn't five them the right to do as they wish to something i own. if i want Linux running on my ps3 heck I'll do just that. i already have cfw on my psp's. my xbox isn't modded. but one day it might. my Nintendo wii and ds is modded software and hard modded and i rather enjoy sitting on me butt playing my games off a usb hard drive w/o the need to go through my disc collections and find the games to play. i rather enjoy being able to install firefox on my wii from a linux OS and surf the web. why because like i said i paid for the systems i can do as i wish.

Once a person (or a few) finds and opens the key, the others will come and try to get the rest of the technological goods, while the founders would be persecuted. I think I might be thinking too deep on this, though.

The money they've invested (and will invest), could be used on working on the PS5, not only on the PS4..

Is that a joke? Companies have sued for years.

Since the 360 has been flashed, micro$ofts move was to ban consoles, the were not after the Xtreme/iXtreme firmware devs. Nintendo does (almost) the same, brings new system updates that block the HBC etc. They weren't after Waninkoko, Hermes Team Twizzers and the rest of the people in the wii hacking scene.
Yeah, they have been suing 'em for years..

Sony vs Hackers, this is a pitiful and yet hilarious.
Funny because it's a stupid case but too bad for those hackers they're being sued.

Quit whining about your so called consumer rights.
Imagine you invent something and sell it to your rivals. Do you let him off for hacking your systems, duplicating them, spreading them all over the internet potentially leaving that invention to being raped of every single one of its patents or due you use your right to do what you want and fight?

Just like your computer, you own the machine but not the OS or BIOS telling the computer how to run and read files.
People here have no brains and keep saying "I own the systems, I paid for it" No you paid for the hardware, and they are allowing you to use the software.

If Sony wins this, it's gonna start a trend, I think. It would be a good think. I mean, sony and microsoft have money, yes, but it's not always the case with the smaller devs that make your games! It's important to pay. I mean, would you personnally work, at your current job, without payment? I don't think so.

is free to use and modify.
they try to cover their a..es with a lenghty EULA, and it might work in the US, but i think they will fail trying to sue someone in europe, cause our consumer protection is actually made to proctect the consumer, and not the one with the most money.
Let me just say i dont condone piracy, but i think its my console, how i choose to use it is my choice and no one elses.

Q: do a toycompany sue you if you take your wireless remote car and mod it with a bigger electromotor or beef up the tyres? I dont think so...
