Sony demos possible future HOME updates: virtual pets and audios, and direct demo downloads

Virtual pets, virtual audio players, direct demo downloads from PS Store -- these are but some of the things that Sony intends to bring to their online abode, PlayStation Home. Question is, are they just too good to be true?

As far as Sony Computer Entertainment's Masami Kando is concerned, not entirely. At a lecture in Japan at the CESA Developers Conference yesterday, Kando said that these things are on the could-do list of Sony, as a matter of fact. He even showed two demos to prove that they are serious about bringing these items to Home.

The first demo showed the playback of net radio broadcasts, podcasts, even TV commercials, which could all be synchronized across multiple users. The second demo showed the virtual pet, a robot that moves about your room while waiting for you to get home. It's a smart one too cos it actually reacts to calls. No keyboards needed.

All these, for now, are mere possibilities. But if Sony does decide to bring these features to Home, that's just more reasons for you to enjoy staying Home. Kando also said to expect a Home update in the future that will allow users to directly access the PS Store. This means easier accessibility to demos for download and direct online play.

all seems cool, but how much? like, the costumes in home is cool i guess, but like 2-3 bucks for a piece of fake clothing? i know it's the future, but that's half a psone game.

i just hope the pet's free. too many things, besides levels, in home cost money.

The one thing that makes home a complete waste of time (lack of ability to hurt people) is going to be made 10x worse by the addition of animals.

Not only will I be frustrated when I get when theres some idiot with a questionable sexuality talking crap and I want to stamp on the *****s face....

NOW they're going to rub it in with cats and dogs

Like any REAL man, I *****ing hate cats.

Now I do like Dogs but I like killing them in computer games too, I think its like a forbiden fruit thing? or maybe because of cod w@w??

But if they put horses in... (on top of the ability to murder the *****er) the ability to rape is a must!

Can I gettan amen! (1411kbps or gtfo!)

"Fake Clothing" is only the same as buying fake maps for your games, or any type of DLC.

If you can't afford $1 or whatever, then don't get it.

Wow, and people really will buy this crap. They already waste their real money on e-clothing for their e-selves, but now they're gonna be sitting in their e-house playing with e-pets. I'd rather play Nintendogs than do this.

You're all just falling into Sony's trap; they're raping all your wallets with their recent approach. I heard they want you to pay money for glow sticks you can barely see. They're taking a page from Micro$oft now.

They sent out e-mails thanking us for using the PSN, and the whole email was just a link to the PS Store to buy more stuff. Have fun with your e-life. I guess there's nothing more for you kids to do in real life than to live an emptier e-life, but whatever.

HOME is like The Sims retarded brother on crack! It is truly horrendous. I'll even admit I bought like 3 dollars worth of virtual clothes just to try and make it more interesting... But no, it sucks. 23 1/2 hours of guys trying to pick up chicks from god knows what part of the country... Which are probably just guys pretending to be chicks anyways! Lame.

I really wish I could play an MMO and not have to worry about the female player being a dude rather than a girl.. It's irritating and stupid to have to have second thoughts about sexuality in the games and HOME is DEFINETELY no exception to the rule but whatever the case- I think HOME will be far worth it in the future. It's gonna be in Beta for ages so for now just sit back relax and let the random updates on it jump in from time to time. I'm sure in the end it'll end up being a big part of PSN for us.

If you don't like getting their E-Mails then just untick the marketing option in Account Management.

Although the glow sticks are a complete waste of time they are easily visible.

And the addition of pets is merely an addition to Home it's not intended to be the focus of Home.

One thing that everyone fails to understand is that Home is a social networking application not a game.
