PS3's

Sony has clarified their plans for the PS3's worldwide launch in November this year. Today, the leading electronics giant issued a statement correcting any rumors regarding its unit allocation of the PlayStation3, confirming plans to have 2 million units available by launch day.

A spokesperson for Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) said "Unfortunately Kaz Hirai's comments in the recent GameSpot interview regarding PlayStation 3 production were misunderstood. We are still on schedule to ship 2 million units for our mid-November 2006 launch and additional 2 million units by the end of the year for a total of 4 million units." That's something we didn't feature on QJ.net though.

Say that again. 2 Million units, eh? Raise your hand if you still think there will be a shortage of PS3s for its November release. Think about how many of these units will be allocated for each region... the Japanese will no doubt buy them once they hit stores. Let's take a stroll down memory lane. Still remember the PS2 launch? Yup, it's bound to be something like that come November in Japan. Crazy, eh?

Heres the response you were waiting for. 1,000,000 is still not enough for us Americans****** *************** *************** **************. I will be camping out for one. I was one of the lucky ones to get a PS2 when they launched and there were about 100 people behind me. Well thats about all I could see from my point of view. But anyway I hope everyone that wants one could get one. Who knows, this damn American here may not get one this time. Just don't act like a prick ok.

Later All

» Wow

2 Million at launch, great.

If we assume Europe/USA/ JPN gets an equal amount then each gets just over 650,000 thousand.

But we know that's not going to happen. It'll probably be something like:

Japan 800 Thousand

USA 800 thousand

Europe 400 thousand (if they are lucky).

Oh yes...there will be shortages.

How many PS2s did they ship at launch back then?

I don't remember how many PS2s there were at its launch but the thing here is that this is a world wide launch so I would almost think that in the time given there would not be as many. Who really knows until the time comes, anything could happen during the production period. I remember when I got my PS2 at launch back then there were I think about 12 there and I had to bolt out the Walmart fast. There were alot of angry people. I know now I might have to have some protection with me to fight off a gang of people if need be.

I think you mean North America, not USA. Canada has nothing to do with the States...

» About 1 Million

If Sony is planning to ship about 4 million PS3's by then end of the year, it looks like each of the 3 main regions, North America, Europe, Asia, will get about 1 million units by the end of the year. Now the only question I want to know is how many PS3's will be the 60GB version? I hope there is enough.

» OH MY GOD IT'S GODZILLA!!!!!

yeah, move out from japan when it comes out, lol.

For me I'll be in my house because I'm not planning on pre-ordering it, nor buying it at launch, only early to mid 2k7!

» How Many?

How many is that per store?

If I remember correctly Sony only shipped a million launch PSP's to NA (first million had spiderman)...I got one from the launch batch like a month or 2 later, same with the 360, bought it when supposedly everywhere else had none, took me one phonecall....I am in Canada, and I guess my city people are too cheap to purchase things right at launch....still will not be getting one for at least 6months to a year tho.

Come on you British fairy or (insert country here)idiot... if you're going to insult Americans.. atlleast spell properly.I'm so sick of of the world slamming America. If it wasn't for america half of the world would be dining on sauerkraut daily and speaking German.

Anyway to get back on topic i really doubt Sony will have 2 million systems on launch and even if they do, the majority will go to Japan first and everyone else last.

by Maes - 2006-08-22 22:43
» lol.

if it wasnt for england there would be no america. haha.

anyway yeah i think europe will get the least chunk of it.

why the hell does sony ALWAYS put europe last. i mean there was a whole YEAR between the launch of the psp in japan and in europe.

i love sony but they suck for always putting europeans on the last

by ps360wii - 2006-08-23 03:42
» I just want to walk in on launch

And pick up my consoles and buy a slew of games for each and go home happy as hell. Is that so much to ask for? Oh oh notice how I said 'conselessss' yes indeed ^^ i'm a proud 360 owner and will/hope to have my ps3 and wii by years end booyah... I just hope the ps3 has an hdmi cord in the package cuz them suckers are expensive and if they are going to support it they better 'really' support it instead of making it optional.
