LittleBigPlanet - Image 1A recent piece from Reuters reported that aside from being offered on Blu-ray, LittleBigPlanet will also be available as a downloadable game:

Sony will release the game, both as a retail disc and as a digital download, through PlayStation Network on Oct 21.

Don't get excited though. Sony stepped in to clarify that this was an error, and that the game will only be released on Blu-ray. I won't be surprised if the game requires a hefty amount of memory though, so better to reserve some space anyway just in case, especially if you plan on going crazy with custom creation.

LittleBigPlanet will be out (on Blu-ray, just Blu-ray) on October 21 for the US, on the 22nd for PAL regions, and the 24th for UK and Ireland.

That sucks..I was hoping it would be a digital download.

It'd would've been cool to have it just a click away instead of the old disc-swapping method...

Still, Day One purchase!

At first I assumed it would be PSN available but as more info came out it became clear that LBP would be a hefty game to download.

One question I still have is what to expect as far as the average size for DLC/user creations; guess I'll find out soon enough.

I just hope we see a lot of downloadable content that adds new items and features.

user generated content... you'll fill your hard drive before being able to download all the content

You don't download the user created content as such, you log into a community which then has all of the levels available which you can browse through or search by using keywords. Your chosen map loads and then plays.

I have no idea if levels created by other people will be playable without being connected to the PSN when the game is released, I would say that it is unlikely. Your own created levels will be playable though.
