Sony ads in Xbox 360 and PC game

We play games - we don't play consoles. I don't know about you or the others, but as a "gamer" (a title that I'm proud of), I enjoy games. My title isn't "consoler" - so it's not my job to play consoles. Yes, we play games on consoles, and some consoles are better at some things (and worse at some things) than other consoles, but that's just part of gaming.

I started off with that intro because here's another "oh no, the consoles are mixing" news item that makes some people wet their pants even though it really isn't news: there are Sony ads in a UEFA game for other platforms. So we made this clarification. (And we really should clarify this before rumors get out of hand.)
  • Sony is a sponsor of UEFA, the Union of European Football Associations. There are Sony ads at UEFA events. If you watch a UEFA game on TV, you'll see a PS3 ad somewhere near the goal. If there's a UEFA game, chances are there'll be a Sony ad somewhere on the field in that game.
  • If a UEFA game comes out for the Xbox 360 or Wii or whatever, then chances are you'll see Sony ads somewhere on the edge of the field near the Vodafone, MasterCard, Ford, and Heineken ads.
  • That's exactly what's happening with the new UEFA Champions League 2006-2007 game from Electronic Arts that has been announced for the Xbox 360, for the PC, and for the PSP. Who knows - the final build may even have PSP and PS2 ads.

lovely ad... - Image 1

So there's the explanation. A guy in McDonald's uniform buys food at Pizza Hut. The Apple support guy owns a PC. The Electrolux repair man owns a Maytag dishwasher. It's no big deal.

I just want to play games - don't you? And if it's good football ("soccer" to my friends), then so much the better.

» They are..

not just 360 and PC games. Ads whether it's Sony or Microsoft help developers pay for the making these games. I'm sure the developers would take any one of them if it helps in the cost of making the game.

» haha not first Whooooooooooo

Thats sick. I'd be pissed If I were playing a game like that on PS3 and had 360 ads. Sadly I thought this was some news on the release of Winning Eleven for PS3. OK so I know its coming really soon for three sixty and Japanese PS3's, any word on an American release? If anyone knows link a fellow gamer...

» hahahaha

Sony sponsored this game with PS3 ads plastered in it, but is this even coming to the PS3?

hahahaha. Proceeds for every copy sold go to MS, UEFA, and Sony.

EVERYBODY WINS!!!

That would be funny if anti-sony xbox360 owners refused to buy this simply for that reason.

» we all laugh until it happens to us...

ads are everywhere, the next big thing about games is to fill them with dynamic advertising content through t'internet... it's funny that this ad is in, but it's 'realistic' right?

also, we will be seeing x360 and wii ads in ps3 games at some time...

anyone remember how bullfrog used to advertise in their games? i loved syndicate wars for that...

lol, Asian Pursuasion.

No offense, but that sounds like either a kickass line for an asian brother to use, or a really bad porno.

I may be white, but I admire the Asian people more. Asians kick ass.

» wtf cares?

Who in the hell cares? BIG WOOP, a PS3 advertisement in a 360 game. I'm, as the author said, a "Gamer" not a "consoler." I play whichever games I enjoy, ot the ones cranked out with a certain label on their cases. These sports games are made to be realistic; and guess what? You might see an ad for heinekin and budweiser in the same stadium. It's al about who ponies up the dough; in this case, SONY really did pay god money for this advertisement. Stop being purist *****es and accept that advertisement isn't a field for politics, because nobody wins. And QJ: I'm pised at you for two reasons: First off, why is this in the PSP section? Just because the author mentioned it in a half-assed reference? Stop giving those of us who come here for PSP news garbage like this. I didnt even ***** when you spammed a list of al of your sections. I just tok it as your right to advertise your othr branches. But this is pointless. Secondly, Why write an article about something you obviously agree is so stupid? I don't know why I bother with you any more. If anyone wants to get their PSP news trash free, with files hosted and not just talked about, check out www.psp-hacks.com

'My title isn't "consoler" - so it's not my job to play consoles.'

HAHA. By dictionary, console means to ''to alleviate or lessen the grief, sorrow, or disappointment of; give solace or comfort: Only his children could console him when his wife died. "

And its noun is 'consoler'.

» sony sponsors the cup, not the video game

It is important to point out that those ads may be in there for authenticity, as they do exist in that exact form in the real game. Sony is a sponsor of the UEFA cup, meaning they didnt necessarily pay the developers or publishers to put an ad in the game. Think about it, the ads from other companies like nike and adidas are still there, but i doubt they paid money to be featured in the game.
