Someone hoarding 100 PS3s to resell for higher price?

100?You're either going to take this picture very seriously and scream around town as if it's the end of the world... or just ROFLMAOZ at it's absolute absurdity.

This picture on your right (uploaded by Boxthor at flickr) has been causing a ruckus over the web. As far back as we can trace it, the only "info" we can really squeeze out is that these are 100 PS3 units all being resold by this one guy from Japan named Eiji.

If this is true, then it's a really cruel world. In the words of fellow blogger Chris C., "a pretty despicable story if true." You don't just hoard PS3 units and sell them for a higher price without being called the next Lex Luthor. A lot of commenters online have even said that Sony "should be cracking down people like this instead of shutting down legit businesses like Lik-Sang." But that's just one side of it...

If this is false, then what could it be? For one thing, it could be a pic of the stock room of a game store. Or maybe these are just empty boxes (the units in them could have been used in kiosks or whatnot). Or it was Photoshopped...

We can't confirm anything about this, but from the pic itself, we're assuming that's not even a solid number of 100 boxes. Try counting/estimating it yourself - 13 boxes per row, times three visible rows at the base, and so on... They don't add up to a full 100. Well, whatever the case be, we'd like to hear what you guys think. Violent reactions? Hilarious assumptions? Controversial arguments? That "Comment" link below isn't there for nothing...

» theres no telling

from what i understand most large retailers arent allowing the ps3s to sit in the back of a large stock rooms with sticky fingers touching them.i was told most target stores are housing their ps3s inside the store managers private office away from the backroom.

» I think this probably is from a store.

How else would somebody even get this many PS3s?

Also, I doubt some guy would care about hoarding PS2s, because that appears to be what is on the table in the front. Why would anyone have two PS2s that just happen to be sitting there unless this is the stock from some store?

by Hmm - 2006-11-15 11:07
» Hmm

PS2? What country still has blue PS2 boxes? Those are for the standard size PS2's and they discontinued those years ago. Also the PS2 box never had a handle on top, so it's probably something else.

» Yakuza

I was watching TV yesterday and they said the Yakuza paid chinese immegrants and homeless people to stand in line for days, then showed up hours beford launch, it damn near caused a riot.

Point is the only person with that many ps3's that is not a store would be the Yakuza and they're not dumb enough to take a picture and post it on the net.

» simple, we should make him pay: like that:

lol, simple, if we don't buy "ebay" resellers like that he'd end up with like 6000$ to pay and nothing to do with the ps3s, lol. that would soo kill him!

or this is fake, and I suppose so.

by soco.6 - 2006-11-15 12:46
» i know who took that picture

its Kaz Hirai, he knows how much money he's losing on the system that he's trying to make some of it back on ebay.

» LOL

Honestly guys, come on! To put an end to this, no store is getting that many PS3's for their initial shipment so thats not even an option. I work in a game store, and we have something called display boxes. Their empty retail boxes that we can put together for display purposes only to show the customers what the boxes will look like and the specs of the consoles.

» yea

lets all protest ebay

» WTF

man if he does have that many he is just an ***** who should just be sharing the wealth. I hope he gets jacked for all of those PS3s. That would be hilarious.

by Suzanne - 2006-11-16 21:23
» Yeah, right!

I highly doubt this photo is legit. At the price these systems are running, 100 would cost $60,000 and even half of that is an outrageous sum. I doubt many people have $30,000-60,000 just lying around to buy systems with. Chances are, this photo is doctored, pics of store stock, or empty boxes. If they really are being sold on eBay for profit, organized crime would probably be the only logical assumption.

» hoarding ps3s

Come on people...

take a moment to think here, i am getting 25 units, all 60gb from hong kong every week till the 18th

when i bring an investment plan that will reel in 100% profit you think it's hard to come up with 50-60 grand?

I have already sold out my first batch, i'll be taking orders on www.diplomaticdistribution.com when i get my second shipment in next week

i love when they say 'genius entrepeneur pays 100$ a day to 50 homeless people' when im getting mine at below retail price, with no line ups and none of that bull*****

If you think i'm 'hoarding' you should see this guy in texas who has 20 000 of them and wont let them go for under 1250$
