Soldier of Fortune: Pay Back - Image 1Australia's Office of Film and Literature Classification has refused classification for Soldier of Fortune: Pay Back (PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360), effectively banning it from being sold in the region.

Activision, the game's publisher, as well as developer Cauldron HQ, have not yet commented on the issue. Activision could choose to appeal the decision or submit a modified version of the game.

Soldier of Fortune: Pay Back is the latest entry in the popular Soldier of Fortune series. It holds the distinction of being the first game in the series to be released on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms. The game was slated to hit Australia early next year.

» Yeahhhh

If you look for a game play trailer for this game, you'd know why.

If you shot a guy twice in the leg, his leg with blow off leaving the victim laying on the ground moaning, morning over his leg. In the trailer, the guy just puts a bullet in his head after that.

You know, just over the top violence.

» over the top

I have to agree its over the top especially as a trailer but then sex and violence sell.

Jesus, just look at films from the 50's they would have you believe that smoking Players cigarettes with virginian tobacco would let you f**k more women than you could handle. Was it banned? oh yeah 50 years later the no smoking its bad for your health.

I thought the Aussies were more grown up, how about the suicide fosters advert after shooting a full can by accident? Hilarious. Yes the violence is over the top but its a cartoon world. Its a GAME. In this 360 PS3 alternative reality we can be bad asses but in the real world when I hear a gun shot I run for cover.
