SOE Expects PS3 To Represent About MMOs are the next big thing on the PlayStation 3, if Sony Online Entertainment has anything to say about it.

The studio already has several highly successful MMO titles under its belt, but president John Smedley believes that when their MMOs hit the PlayStation 3, their business will almost double:

PS3 will be close to half our business. It's growing so quickly, we see a great user base potential there.

I think a lot of the people who play PS3 games right now aren't the same people playing MMOs right now. I think [MMOs on PS3 is] going to bring in a lot of new players.

There are certainly people who have consoles and PCs in their house. The difference is what they actively play. PS3 gamers are used to playing Resistance 2 instead of a shooter on the PC. I think we can bring this kind of gaming to this audience and I think it's going to be huge.

Titles they'll be bringing to the PS3 include Free Realms, DC Universe Online, and The Agency. Console MMOs are a highly unexplored avenue, but judging from the success of Final Fantasy XI, I'd agree that it's an avenue worth exploring. It might even introduce a whole new breed of gamers to the PS3.

» Very nice

And ya I can see them doing EQ2 on the PS3 with mouse and keyboard support via USB. It does have the power but just the graphics has to be tuned for the PS3.

» no possible way for this to fail.

If millions of people are willing to pay money to buy clothes for their Home avatars, then many more will be willing to pay a monthly fee. I in no way meant that was an insult to anyone, btw.
