SOCOM Confrontation online community more solid than KZ2, Resistance 2

Contrary to what online gamers may generally believe, it's actually not Killzone 2 or Resistance 2 that racks up the most number of online connections simultaneously in-game. That honor belongs to none other than SOCOM: Confrontation, and SCEA has got the community's commitment to thank for it.

We are family.

Senior producer Mark Rogers revealed that SOCOM actually has the most number of players to not only connect simultaneously, but also to play an online game in a more dedicated fashion. Because of this dedication, the SOCOM community will then be rewarded with a patch set to include new Special Forces to the game, among others.

With details for patch 1.60 already unveiled by the Slant Six team, it becomes no mystery or surprise if players come back even more to play SOCOM online.

We'll be keeping you updated on more details regarding this patch and then some for SOCOM: Confrontation.

» eh...

not surprised. KZ2 is the same thing each time and gorilla just added some new maps at like $6. Still same stuff to do. So I thought it got pretty repetitive and boring.

» THIS GAME JUST SUCKS

I still don't know why I bought it (actually i do, for the headset :D).. this game is the worst game ever. I should have realized that from the epic fail they had in the beta.. Sadly i still have it somewhere.

The part that killed it for me would have to be the very rude members of that community.. (no offense to any who play.. im sure you are one of the nice ones, but you know what im talking about.) I would say thats the only thing they are "solid" in.. sorry for the flame :( im not usually the kind who flames.. but wasting so much money hurts.. lol

» Well.

It did have the SOCOM name which sold it for a lot of people. The game essentially defined PS2 online. It has a very devout following and no bull***** made by /6 will change that.

I do have to say that the Socom community is probably the most mature of all shooter communities I have been apart of. Sure, people will yell at you for sucking, but once you get down to it, the same people are calling things out, and saving your ass at every turn.

» So a couple bad community

experiences automatically means a game sucks? The only time most individuals would ever be rude is when your not very good at the game, it is a VERY team oriented game after all. And yes, the beta was less than stellar (isn't that the point?) the game has since gone through several updates and runs very well now.

Anyway, basing a game off it's beta and a couple people is a very naive way to rate a game. Actually, it sounds a lot more like the game is simply too challenging for you and you've taken it to a personal level.

» really? no joke!

how about sony make a real socom game. slant six sucks at life. socom confrontation is a piece of crap. i love socom. i just wish a developer that knew what they were doing would take over. damn canadians!

we're still playing the beta. slant six really does not know what they are doing. kz2 has been out and they already released DLC and patches. KZ2 runs seamlessly. socom does NOT. its like 10 FPS and its laggy 24/7.

» I used to think....

I used to think the game sucked balls.

I payed 59,99 with headset included like 2 months ago. I played it online for like 15 times since then.

When I first got online I was like "WTF" I kept dying and couldn't kill anyone. Skip 4 games later and I got the hang of it, skip 10 times more and now I get VIP sometimes well like 2 times since I havent played it that much. This game is a love or hate, if you suck at it you will regret buying it but to us FPS players and that we know what to do its a really decent games.

Also I experience lagged rooms and disconnections all the time. I just got a 50 ft ethernet cable and hooked it up to my PS3 and NO MORE LAG OR DISCONNECTIONS! !!!!

» wow

ok so Sw3ReV, if everyone thought like you and say damn canadians, everyone in the whole world would call you and every american out there ignorant and stupid.

Luckily for society not everyone is as childish, ignorant and immature like you, grow up, try saying that to a candians face, pretty sure you wouldnt be able to move

» haha

you must work for slant six. say what you want but this game is still the crappiest ive ever played of all the socoms. lasers shining through walls? wow and they are paying their testers? oh yea dont forget about how cars fuel is stored inside the WINDSHIELD!

while i do agree with you about the game having problems, i still have an awesome time with it, and i do agree with you about slant six being a not so great company, especially the way they released an unfinished game and are stupid at dealing with the community, like how they tell you that the newest patch is in test then dont give you any info for 2 months!

» what about warhawk?

warhawk is a much better game even though i used to like to play fireteam 2 on psp but that was zipper cause slant sux cant make good games but definate warhawk is better thats why it only says resistance and killzone ;)

by tdom123 - 2009-07-31 02:14
» i dunno but...

i just could not get into warhawk, not to mention i was terrible at it, the only thing that i enjoyed was the dog fights!! i didnt think that warhawk had much of a community tho, and plus there was always 10 year old screaming into the mic. But with FTB3 coming out, slant six might be able to make this one good, i think they're more of a handheld developer company imo.

by Sw3RvE - 2009-07-31 03:51
» yes

warhawk works pretty much flawlessly. killzone 2 also works great. the socom community deserves the best shooter ever made. not a joke of a game. maybe after zipper is finished with MAG they can make a socom that lives up to the name.

by tdom123 - 2009-07-31 07:37
» ya

zipper made socom what it was and how great it was, they are far more superior to slant six
