The PS3 Blu-Ray Interface

Not quite sure why, but there's this irresistible urge to start poking the TV screen.

Unlike the main game interface of the PS3, this looks a lot more unfriendly to people hoping to get into the PS3 for the Blu-Ray movies. Of course, since it's in development, we'll probably see something better in the future, preferably one that looks slightly more intuitive, as some of the icons are completely alien to gamers.

Maybe they'll let us choose an interface menu type, from icons and words for the respective choices? It might be more accessible that way.

What do you think would make a useful, easily accessible Blu-Ray User Interface? Let us know, ok?

» PS2 Menu

That menu resembles the DVD menu found on PS2 consoles. It works very well, each icon has words appear so you know what it does. It isn't as friendly as the XMB, but you don't need options organised out in an XMB when you are watching a BD movie.

» not to worry really

most will get the remote that has to be comming out so it will work like any dvd player. so this is only if your using the controler, but even then it has has basic functions such as.R2 and L2 fast forward and rewind. R1 and L1 chapter skip back and forward. start pause and play. and trangle to bring this up

» A remote...

Fixes everything

» hrmm

Looks like any DVD interface I have at home, from my DVD system, to my PS2 and the menu that pops up on my PC. It doesn't look that hard to use.

» not too good but easy

Its pretty crap and you can get lost but you just need a remote control.

Xbox360s is similar, awful to use the game control, perfect with the remote

» Make it skinnable

Just sidestep the whole issue and make it skinnable. PS3 has the storage capacity (hard drive).

How is it bad?

It's like a remote on TV, you will be able to do things pressing different buttons on your controller, or scrolling through options.

Or just buy a PS3 remote.

ps3.qj.net should really stop using gamersreports (more like sonyhatersrepor ts), the inquirer, joystiq, gamesradar and some other small trashy sites as source.

I know that you need something to write about, to get the site running, but you shouldn't trade news for quality.

» 360 People visit your own lame sites!

Every time I look at PS3 stories on PS3 dedicated sites there are always a ton of 360 guys that show up to defend their lame system. I just don't understand it. I don't ever go to 360 sites because the system sucks. There is really nothing that the 360 has that I have interest in (other then the rumble for the controllers). The recent news for Resistance: Fall of Man proves what direction this counsel war is going. The 360 is not really full next gen. It's more like better graphics with a ton of pricey add-ons. 360 guys biggest defense is "at least they gave us a choice." It's not just a blue ray player, you are getting next gen tech. More space means more benefits for games.

Okay, I'm off my soapbox. 360 guys, go to your MS site so you can hear what game are now backward compatible (that's your future).

What are you talking about Nada? Did you actually READ the posts so far? Where are the '360 people' defending their console in this thread?

Your post makes you no better than the people you complain about, you know, the people who are not here in this thread. :|

» Easy Interface

Thats almost the same as the PS2 interface.

Anyone who cant navigate that on screen control needs to get some common sense.

A remote is nice but the PS3 controller is wireless.

» What's the big deal?

Looks just like the regular ole PS2 DVD menu/control panel...

And you'd have to be a mentally-challenged chimpanzee to be unable to use it.

i understand what u mean...but...this article is called "rumour"..meaning anything is up for sale...so stop complaining about Q.J. ok?

» oh well

sony cant win. no matter what they do someone will find something wrong. so I think they should just make it very custumizable, and have easy to use layout templates for the tech rookies so that if anybody has a problem with the interface they can fix it them self.

» Internet

I'm guessing, since it has a hard drive, you might be able to customize it or even download skins from the internet. Hopefully.
