SKATE 2 PS3 frame rate's got issues

Reports have it that the frame rate for Electronic Arts' SKATE 2 (PS3, Xbox 360)is not such a smooth ride as many would have hoped for and expected. Particularly for the PS3 version. And because it is buggy, it seriously affects the performance of the player.

As you know, in a game like SKATE 2, timing is everything. You need it to get that perfect landing, that perfect skitch, that perfect move, everything. So if the framerate holds you back, even for just a nanosecond, then most likely the result is you fumbling about in your skateboard.

The Xbox 360 version, however, has been said to be more or less fine with its frame rate. How about a patch to fix this one, Sony?

I played the ps3 demo for skate 2

I was trying to decide to get skate 1 for cheap or get skate 2... after playing the demo the first skate looks like a better choice.

I find it weird

that this is on the Xbox 360 section but not on the PS3 section. Apparently QJ thinks that Xbox 360 owners need to care about PS3 frame rate issue's and PS3 owners don't need to care one bit.

Woops nvm

PS3 RSS feeds didn't update.

Actually I figured it out, QJ does some weird stuff

I thought this wasn't there because I saw the Making Sony Proud thing before this was posted there. When you go there it is still on top with this post and a couple I have never even seen between them. The last time I saw Making Sony Proud it was right above SCEE is doing their best. The time shows that Making Sony Proud was made after all this but if you look at OPM UK launches Killzone 2 it links to Making Sony Proud. At first I thought I was going blind or something because of this. This has happened before as well where I missed out on that Xbox Live for 30 dollars deal. By the time I realized I missed that it was sold out

Sony patch? Huh?!

Why would Sony be patching a game they didn't develop again? This is EA's responsibility to patch this game not Sony's. So much for EA starting to do principle development on the PS3. And what's up with Q&A teams at these developers? Are they ONLY testing the game in the development environment on dev kits?

i have notived

i have played the ps3 demo and the xbox360 demo and i cant telll the difference by allot and not only with this demo i have compared many other demos and i see that the 360 seems to have smoother clipping ... im no fan boy but the 360 seems to be extremly smooth as to were the ps3 has those stupiid lag/ frame skip issue's anyways i have a cpu: 65nm gpu: 65nm That is basically the NEW ps3's with only 2usb ports which were released last year around august, anyway my point is that consideriing the console now runs cooler it also losses a SMALL amount of performancedue to the reduction in size and speed. sucks i know sony has really pulled the cored for this one. whatever well see what happens hopefull there will be a patch X)

help

"Hi, I’ve found the following improvements for better and smoother framerates for ps3 games. Like set the BD/DVD upscaler set off,HDMI 24fps off, HDMI audio set on bitstream, PS2 upscaler/smoother set off. Disable system display notify/ mediaserver off / all other automatic setting set to off / internet disable if not multiplaying and other setting etc will all help improve framerates."

not all too weird

it's not some intentional aesthetics scheme the QJ staff practices. sometimes, the pages just lag when updating, so for some readers, the articles are just in the right order they're supposed to be, and for others, the order of the articles tend to move up or down, depending on its time of approval. but in no way are we "caring more" about a particular console, especially if the news caters to various platforms. :)

I dont own a PS3 but...

I have a bad feeling that all the problems with Skate 1 are going to be in this version. I noticed in the demo that some of the annoying features (injurys pausing your game) and bugs (like resetting in a manual) are still there. It's like nothing has been fixed, they just built a new enviroment on the exact same engine and added a couple of new obsure moves. It's disappointing because this is what happened to the Tony Hawk series.

its a shame

since i was expecting the advertized 60fps that they said a while ago when they announced it... shame on you EA

EA shame

this probably would have been a different story if it was developed on a ps3

I agree

What was the point of asking sony? If all games had this issue then yes, but it is up to the developer and EA to fix this problem it's THEIR game.

I love how people

want to blame sony for a game they aren't developing. Its EAs fault and they are being too lazy and irresponsible to fix it if it is a problem! BUTTT I played both versions both on HDTVs and I failed to notice anything wrong with the frame rate, maybe someone out there just sucks and blamed the missed tricks on lag :). As for me I haven't seen any issue with it at all. Smooth sailing get the demo yourself and try it out don't listen to reports.

...

this is not true, i tested it on both consoles, both of them have same frame rate.
