SIXAXIS meets games: some PS3 games with tilt |

Imaginations run wild with the PS3's SIXAXIS tilt functionality. Imagine what you could pull off with an additional set of controls in a controller whose predecessors were already packed full with inputs. (Should we list them all now? Two analog sticks, the D-pad, 4 face buttons, three L and R buttons, as well as Start and Select - and now SIXAXIS). Of course the job of imaginations run wild belong to the developers, and Gamespot today has posted this short list of a number of launch and upcoming PS3 games being played at the "Frisco Gamers" Day, which are known to use SIXAXIS functionality - besides Warhawk, of course. Some of these you've seen in previous games coverage. But there's bound to be a couple you've ain't seen yet.
- Tony Hawk's Project 8: Control steering, balance, and precision foot placement in Nail the Trick. Don't worry if you screw up - the controller won't fly off your hands and your nuts won't land on the rails, unlike in real life.
- Madden NFL 07: Gamers can fake or jump the snap, control the lead blocker, and ram pure bulk down ball carriers. Talk about putting your weight into your moves.
- Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07: No more button-mashing to add spin! Tilt the controller to add the spin in the direction you want. Hold the tilt down longer to add more spin.
- NBA 2K7: While 2K Sports revealed that tilt will be used in the game's free-throw mechanic, Sony themselves added that players will be able to pull off dribbling moves and moves at the post by jerking the SIXAXIS back and forth.
- NHL 2K7: When players enter the first-person-view crease-control system, tilting the controller controls the cursor. SIXAXIS can also be used to check opposing players (more weight into your moves, eh?), but this option can be turned off if desired.
- Blazing Angels: Just like Warhawk, tilt can control the plane. But it can also be turned off as well. As Gamespot suggests, probably because one can receive "carpal tunnel syndrome from too many barrel rolls," a maneuver we haven't seen much of in Warhawk but is a staple move of Blazing Angels and Ace Combat. Air sickness bags not included.
