SingStar - Image 1Sony's SingStar may not be arriving on North American doorsteps 'til next month, but Europe sure seems like they're having a total blast with this karaoke title.

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) has released a press wire saying that for the Fiscal Year of 2007 (April 07 to March 08), SingStar has successfully sold five million units and one million download tracks, bringing its sales to 12 million since its first release in 2004 on the PS2.

Executive Producer Paulina Bozek has this to say about the feat:

SingStar's success is built upon simple and entertaining gameplay. Historically we have added new music tracks to keep the experience fresh but the arrival of the PS3 has allowed us to think differently. We can now take advantage of next-generation features to take the next step forward in the SingStar experience. The launch of SingStar and My SingStar Online is the realisation of this and the experience is now more user-focused, personalised and interactive.

Apart from this success in sales, the past fiscal year was also witness to several recognitions for SingStar PS3, including three Guinness World Records: Most Successful Singing Game, First Customisable Track in a Singing Game, and First Music Game to Let Players Record Their Performances and Share Them Online.

Good Songs Please!

My daughter loves the PS2 version and I plan on getting the PS3 version soon after it comes out. She has a blast with this.
