Single New Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom Screenshot

We've had generous servings of Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom screenshots as well as interviews and previews, and yet we ask for more. The game may have been given a lukewarm reception in March, but has completely mesmerized the audience when Sony Online Entertainment showed off a solid playable game at E3 in May. As such, we've raised our expectations of the game just a bit and we're hoping that it won't disappoint come November 17, when it launches alongside the PS3.

While we've gotten the introduction out of the way, let's turn our focus on a single screenshot from the game courtesy of PlayFrance. You're looking at a creature that appears to be sleeping on his job. This is a big no-no even in medieval times. This creature would be lucky to get the pink slip once the boss finds out about this. We heard the other punishment is a mighty whack in the head.

I just had to say, that this article has probably been the most pointless article QJ.net has probably ever posted.

Please guys, if there is no news, just dont make these pointless articles.

There are times when you release news that is "new", or relevant to us gamers, but times like these makes me think why i visit this site at all...

The PS3 isn't capable of processing FSAA + HDR at the same time... just like the Nvidia gfx cards

manoftrueness: All games of the PS3 will not look any better then the games that come out on PC at the same time... time will teach you!

"The PS3 isn't capable of processing FSAA + HDR at the same time... just like the Nvidia gfx cards"

It can be done, just not with FP16 or FP32.

Ninja Theory are using a method they call NAO32 for implementing HDR, enabling them to aim for 720p with HDR and 4x MSAA for their game Heavenly Sword (all at 30fps).

Anyway, it's interesting that for Untold Legends, the developers are now aiming for 720p (the res of this screenshot), given all the fuss some gamers made about it when it was first announced to be 1080i (some even said 1080p, but I always believed that was an error).

720p is indeed the 'sweet spot' for next-gen games.

will become standard among PS3 games when developers get used to PS3 programming model, dont expect 720p in the 2nd generation of games.

See you.

# 1080p is too much...Guest 2006-07-30 07:10
ever played a PC game on 1920*1080?

even 256bit gfx cards with 256MB ram are not enought.

and the PS3 has afaik only a 128bit GF7800 gfx card with 256MB ram.

the data transfert from the ram to the chip at 128bit isnt any near fast enought, to provide 1080p at a fluid framerate.

i bet they all go for 720p with 4xAA.

at least I would prefert 720p with 4xAA over 1080p without AA

1080p will not be standard.

Almost all PS3 games are 720p for good practical reasons, and it has little to do with getting used to the PS3. 1080p requires twice as many pixels as 720p, and for what? Developers would rather use that extra capacity for adding extra/better effects in games and better or more stable framerates, not higher resolution.

For any game running at 1080p, the same developers can ALWAYS improve the graphics by dropping the resolution to 720p.

In contrast, 1080i requires just 12.5% more pixels to be processed, therefore you're far more likely to see 1080i in games (the original resolution specified for Untold Legends) than 1080p.

1080p is suitable for Blu-ray movie playback, not graphically intensive games.

For a game on sony's next-gen machine, this looks really poor!!!

Almost as if a child developed the game!

Yaz: you are finally a guy, that understands a little more about computer technology then all the PS3 fanboys. -thanks :)

DC RIDER 360: the PS3 has a gfx card in it, that is on about the same level as the xbox360s, so i think some games look better on this console, some better on the other... (but not much... the Killzone-video for example is Bull*****)

and a faster CPU doesnt mean better graphics it means only maybe: more moving objects/eventually more details.

I'm not a 360 fanboy, nor a PS3 fanboy, I'm not going to buy any of these consoles... (only maybe a wii)

This really doesn't look bad. It really reminds me of Fable though.

This looks way better than most 360 games, you know, games like Frame City Killer.
