If this is actually true, then we just might see the Sony paint the town silver come June. That's because word has it on the street that Silver PlayStation 3 DualShock controllers are on their way to the US in a couple of months.

This story originated from a GameStop employee who confirmed that their store will indeed be receiving shipment of the Silver one by June. Cool, huh? But what good would a Silver controller do if the console is not a match?

Not to worry, cos word's already abuzz now that the Silver PS3 model just might be up in store for Sony at the upcoming E3 event, happening on June 2-4. Not so farfetched, considering the timeline, yes?

Keep your fingers crossed, we'll keep our eyes peeled for more updates on this. In the meantime, we're tagging this as Rumor.

Color

They should make a solid chrome one with the alien controller they were showing before the PS3's release.

Cheap

I origannaly wanted a silver one but now that I look at it it looks kinda cheap both the controller and system the white is still slick though. I wish they would design better controllers with the thumbsticks beside each other but a feel like the xbox cottoller. Oh and that alien one looks cool but probably really uncomfortable.

?

You mean the boomerang controller? I'm not sure what you guys are talking about.

lol

they should change the price of ps3 by june, and not only those damn colors of a ps3 unit, its not that merely important, and black would always be the best, simplicity and elegance for black ...

Finally

I imported my first silver DS3 from PlayAsia so I could tell at a glance if I was grabbing the DS3, or one of me 3 older black 6axis controllers. This will make it easier (and hopefully slightly cheaper) to pick up another DS3.

nice

Nice I bet ya they took out the Wifi and put in a 20gb so that they can lower the price on this SKU. And NOOOOOO they will not change the 80gb PRICE!!! Get that through your THICK HEADS ALREADY!!! The price for this model might be lower but who knows.

Yeah

And Gunmetal Grey is still my band of choice. ... SORRY, I just had to say that.

The Xbox controller sucks compared to sixaxis, but both are functional. Learn to adapt man!

Gunmetal all the way

I agree 100% with xophaser. For anyone who's actually seen the Gunmetal gray system in person, that is the absolute coolest color. The promotional shots just did not do it justice. The satin silver, in comparison, is rather meh. Maybe if it was shiny silver, or (as someone mentions below) chrome. Even better, I'd love to see a PS3 in that same type of copper/chrome color the new HP laptops have. That would be quite a standout. ...until then: Gunmetal rules!

Yeah

To me it looks like an alien controller. I think that is the kind of thing Sony was trying to portray with it's color and shape. I still wish they released it.
