Harrison-isms, on the other hand, have been described as a fool's blabbering and the more he speaks the more he stuffs "his foot farther and farther back in his mouth!"A certain Richard, who is on the verge of launching a "Zip It, Phil Harrison" campaign, listed some of the Sony executive's controversial statements on Aeropause. Sony got Blu-Ray players, Blu-Ray movies, and all of those all in HD. So what the h*ll is this guy complaining about?

The PS3 comes standard with Linux. Everything you can do on a PC with Linux, you can do on the PS3. WiFi, Keyboard, USB, mouse, everything a PC can do, the PS3 can do. The PS3 IS a PC.

that means no homebrew at all.
I bet sony brings out firmwareupdates on the gamediscs when the firmware got hacked. (just like with PSP.... only you cant cancel them)
But blabla... it has linux blabla... THATS BS... it might have linux but on this small linux NO SOFTWARE IS RUNNING THAT IS NOT MADE FOR THE CELL!
you have to compile it for the cell! -tell me of a compiler, that is free available, that is able to do that!
And even with this compiler you need signed code!
so... in what way is a PS3 a computer?

True HD is a standard set by electronics producers, go to the store and check it out. Every 1080p TV has a "TRUE HD" sticker.
Oh and flop1348: PS3 can run unsigned code and homebrew, which was already said many times by SONY. You can write your own program for it. Therefore your a M$ ***** lover, who tries to back up this crappy article, with more BS.

-That, while it sounds absurd to some, may be true, maybe sony can come out with a system that'll totally make us rethink what a console is. It's got the goods to function as a PC, the HDD for content, keyboard/mouse support, built in browser for internet and linux support (for possible 3rd party apps).

the games of xbox360 and PS3 are looking all just like normal PC games or worse.
wii is the only console that has something new.
nintendo made their consoles always to something much better!
NES - nice start with coloured 2d graphics (i know G&W... but Im talking about consoles)
SNES - much better 2d graphics
N64 - REAL 3d graphics (compare the first PS1 games to the first N64 games)
Gamecube - much better 3d graphics
Wii - REAL gameplay ^^

The ability to run unsigned code is certainly not the one and only criteria to call something a computer, I don't even think it's a criteria... But if you could do that, that would raise the value of the ps3 a lot for sure.
I understand that with little news comming out qj has to fill the site with things like this, but almost all recent news on the ps3 site here were reported to provoke the ps3 fans:S

Im no fanboy, I dont even have a PSX, but if wasent for Sony consoles would still be considered kiddy. If you dont belive me look up the history of Sony or whatever. It was the first console to target a whole new market, that had been relativley untouched.
The Xbox however in my books isnt much. So what it had a few gems, but the majority of its good titles came out on PC, even the medicore Halo series all eventually reach their roots. No Jap game support whatsoever, and compared to the PS2's broad rage of titles, it only made up for it with its great multiplayer and decent online system.
However I cant belive Micro$oft still make users pay for online privleges...

The PS3 looks great, it has a solid lineup, great titles comming out for it, and thanks to its hefty hardware it wont age as badly as lets say; the Wii (not that thats a bad console!) in 3 years time.
Meh PC Gaming will always hold the crown for the best platform

You said with crappy 3D games? Back then those were basicly the only 3D console games. I still remember some of the first console 3D games like Battle Arena Toshinden, Warhawk and Twisted Metal. Those games were awesome for the time and still have pretty good elements to them. How do you know that the PS3 is not going to allow you to do anything else. Look at all the things people were able to achieve for the PSP.

There is maybe not a 100 blu-ray movies on the market right now, but who cares, if the guy made a mistake on that part.
Who cares is Sony is arrogant or not? Why is this a concern of you? I like to hear definition of arrogance also, and see how much it would apply to any company that DOMINATES it's field. Seems to be a lot of Sony hate, simply because they are No. 1.

All of you talking about unsigned code and so on, but dont forget what linux mean! Its an open source. It means that the kernel (for PS3) and SDK must be FREE! If PS3 has linux it has homebrews as well (or Sony folks would have a big problem with GNU license).

They also bragged about its "linux" in the ps2...sure it was hacked later on...but out of the box...it hardly could be bragged to have linux.
This is why I don't listen to hype from any of the three companies till the console is released...
you fanboys should do the same...
look at the GAMES and what the DEVELOPERS of ps3 GAMES say and show...then buy the system(s) that appeal to you from the games....
why is this gen all about a computer...from companies that lie...
if you want a computer that you are sure has everything that is promised for..then get a damn computer!...
If you want a GAMING CONSOLE...get the ps3, 360, wii...but don't expect any of them to launch nuclear warheads or have linux so you can run homebrew, unsigned coding, or "back-up" games without first figuring a way to hack the system...like was done the previous gen.
Sony has put too much in this console to let some idiots come in and screw them over by using it only to pirate *****.

PS1 VS N64 = winner is N64 for better graphics and gameplay
PS1 is good only for FF7 and its sound quality
is better...
PS2 VS NGC= PS2 is the winner overall... why, better graphics b Better sound... More games... More funtions... l online play... and the most HOMEBREW for their linux kit...
Know the PS3 will be better for the Enhanced graphics, its tv quality, its games will be popular( more than 250 games in current production) and it will have capable computer hook up, free internet, free online play, and downloads that are free!!!

PR people are paid to talk up their product. get over it already. anyone who believes that the PS2 will have you "jacking into the Matrix," the X Box 360 will be like a "lucid dream," McDonalds Chicken McNuggets are actually made from "100% real chicken," and any number of PR bull seriously needs to develop a mind of their own.
what's even more tragically ironic, is that i actually think Sony is *TRYING* to right the numerous overhyped "wrongs" of the PS2. with the PS3, they're trying to deliver top notch visuals this time around, more controller support, an online system on par with X Box Live, better functionality (yeah, the PS2 DVD player wasn't great, but from what i've seen at E3, the one inside of the PS3 seems to be pretty sweet; in little booths, they had actual PS3's running video games and Blu Ray movies), and, to protect your hefty, $500/$600 investment, they're including Blu Ray, so when games inevitably require more than 9 gigs of space (which that time is rapidly approaching), you won't have to buy a costly add on later, and when you finally throw out that 10 year old SD TV and invest in an HD TV (whose prices are dropping rather quickly), you'll have HD software and movies to take advantage of that.
i had no desire to invest in Blu Ray movies, or HD movies and entertainment in general. until i actually *SAW* it. and i was sold. games and movies look phenomenal in HD, and while the TVs are too much for me right now, in about 6 months to a year, they *won't* be. there's already HD TV's for under $800 right now. in a years time, i imagine those same $800 sets will be going for half that price.

Yes, the Playstation 3 is the only format that has 1080p support. I don't see the 360 or Wii supporting 1080p. Whoever said this was a stupid quote is a retard. From this context, Format = Console. Get it right.

1080p (true definition of HD) contains three elements of the HD value chain. Display, Content, and Hardware. Sony is the only company who currently has everything that can support/play 1080p.
Display = Sony Bravia/Wega,
Content = Blu-Ray movies and games,
Hardware = Blu-Ray Player, and PlayStation 3.
Each of those support 1080p (true definition of HD), man, this 'Richard' is a dumbass. Or anyone who says these are dumb things he said.

Check again, and I'm sure through the context of the PlayStation 3 being the center of attention here, he is refering to when you buy the PlayStation 3, there will/should be about 100 Blu-Ray movies available. Umm...dude the NGC actually was more than 2 times more powerful then the PS2. 250 games in production...heh..please. Free Internet? Umm that may be true. Free Online Play.
