Short survey says 14 out of 22 gamers prefer PS3 over Wii |

At this year's Tokyo Game Show, Kotaku's correspondent decided to do a short poll among attendees as to which console they would prefer once the Wii and the PS3 becomes available in a couple of months. The results? Playstation 3 comes up with 14, while 8 say that they would buy the Wii.
Out of all the people who were polled, one repeating theme among those who picked the Wii was that they would buy Nintendo's console because it is cheaper than the PS3. Some have even hinted that if they had the means, they would rather get Sony's console. Meanwhile, over at the PS3 camp, most respondents seem to have already made up their minds long ago as they quickly point out their preference.
Of course, this mini-survey is inconclusive as preferences vary from country to country, and from culture to culture. One also has to take into account such things as the average cost of living as well as the purchasing power of the citizens where a console will be released, as these will also pretty much determine how these two pieces of hardware would fare once they are released to the international masses.

I'm getting a Wii, no PS3 or 360 for me, BUT, while this isn't conclusive by far, if you sampled 3 trillion people I bet the PS3 would come out on top. It has a HUGE mindset and was the dominating console last gen. Power does appeal, that's a simple fact. And last gen Nintendo sucked with their limited game lineup and lack of "hardcore" games. In the end though, I'd happily eat my hat if Nintendo comes out on top - and I hope they do.
After all the amazing jaw dropping stuff SONY shown at TGS everyone wants PS3. I'm pretty sure that Kotaku tards wanted to make PS3 look bad with that poll, but they failed miserably.

To no.9 I think the same thing!(funny euh) I'm sure when everybody will be able to see the power of PS3 this november they will save there money or sell there 360 to buy one! You know that Microsoft and Nintendo put all there good games for display at this TGS. But the most thing we heard by now is how amazing the PS3 games look! Even Gear of War was there and didn't make a noise. Try to think about that... and don't tell me they are Japanese
Well, that's their opinions and if they want to buy ps3 then go for it. They are just simple stupid because of expensive and it is almost the same as ps2 but improvement a bit..no big deal. Wii is a promising and I hope it is getting better over Game Cube.

So if xbox was uglyer in graphic the sell of the machine would be horrible maybe inexistant. If it was the case M$ will not even think about doing an xbox360. So when your system come after it must have better power or your going down. (execpt for nintendo Wii and i don't think they will do much better then Gamecube...it' a gimmik, fun for 1hr MAX.....it's only a media hype!)

the reason why i've always favored sony was for their libary of good games, im def. eventually goin to buy a ps3 but for now im gettin a wii. nintendo does tend to hide behind mario thinkin that he'll make up for the lack of the "hardcore" games. If nintendo got past last gen. graphics and got some more 3rd party games(red steel and far cry is a good start) than they wuld own 360 and p$3.
With PS3, you're buying 3 consoles in 1. With Wii, you're buying 7 consoles in 1....FOR LESS.
The Wii will never have Uber visuals, its specs are just piping the Xbox's (1), but that cant mean it wont be able to render large games aka Zelda. The Wii should be good fun, but I dont like the idea of dishing out $250 u.s on a console, that's experience is entirley based upon the controller. Thats why im opting to buy a PS3 (when it comes out in Australia), its a bit better package; Its got great system specs, and all the extra gizmo's that come out of the box. Its a very beefy package, im looking foward to the lineup (especially MGS4!!). The reason I didnt end up buying a 360, is because there is only one title on it I want; Dead Rising, and all of the other 'good' games I can play on my PC (oblivion, Graw). Ive come to the conclusion that when you buy a new console, its worth putting the extra $100 fowards, to buy somthing that does more, and will LAST you much longer. I feel asthough the PS3 is a good investment, for the long run. Then again, this is comming from a person who is buying a GameCube TOMMOROW (for $50 Australian), just so I can play MGS: TS, Metroid and Battalion Wars...

Where in my post did i say that Wii games werent shown? (oh i'm sorry that i forgot to clarify). And i know Wii games were shown but they were not what you call ninendo's 'big guns'.
Nintendo didn't come to the event, so they were all Sony ppl/fans/etc. If there was an event focused on Nintendo the majority would want the Wii, we all know that. Right now Im hoping to get a Wii, but if the PS3 price goes down ALOT I might buy it (thats the reason why ppl are calling the PS3 a POS because of its price). I hate fanboys of any kind because they tend to only talk about the good and never the bad, while flaming others who hate what they like. Cmon ppl you guys/girls aren't old enough to talk like this, or to old to be talking like this. QJ is becoming a place to flame every kind of news that come up and its getting annoying. it's funny that people mention that pole about Japanese gamers prefering a 360 over the PS3, as that pole was taken *BEFORE* the price drop of the PS3 in Japan. now that that bomb has been dropped, i'm sure if the pole was taken again, the PS3 would be more prefered, especially after it's very impressive TGS. it's hilarious to me the turnaround that has happened since TGS. across the net, reporters everywhere are forced to swallow some of their pride and admit that, yes, the PS3 is a games machine, and yes, the games, whether new IPs (White Knight Story looks great on all levels), or old favorites (Ninja Gaiden Sigma will be awesome, though i already own Black), look good. and since HDMI is included in all SKUs worldwide, it's now only $500 to get a console that matches the 360 feature for feature, and has a bit more (free online with a single log-in, and Blu Ray). basically, the people that bought the $400 360 and are looking to buy the probable $200 HDDVD add-on (though i imagine Microsoft may have to bite the bullet and drop the price to compete), will be spending $600 or more, when they could get the $500 PS3 and have all of that, and the format that has the largest ammount of industry support (both film and gaming). the PS3 is a no-brainer as a purchase, and the Wii and 360 are great consoles also. never has there been so much *CHOICE* across the board in gaming history. most consoles were always targeting the same thing: same games, same audience, same everything. now, we have 3 completely and distinctly different consoles that, hopefully, cover the broad spectrum of people's tastes, and for fair prices considering all that each console is offering (though i do find $60 for complete Wii controller BS, but that's another issue). this is a great time to be a gamer. one day i'll own all 3 consoles, but for my particular tastes and interests, the PS3 will be the first console i pick up.

I can download 2/3's of those on that list (unless there's an emulator for gamecube games too, because I stop using emulators) off the net and play them on my computer for FREE. Anyone with a computer and knows about emulators has already had that choice of library through emulation. I wouldn't pay 5 bucks or even a dollar just to play an old NES or SNES game with that in mind.

When I look at the PS3, im not just buying it for its system specs. Im a PC gamer, and yea im always looking at a systems specs, but when I buy a console I look at the games. I didnt even own an Xbox, and that was the most powerful last gen console. Hell I bought a cube today, and that exactly wasent a sucess for Nintendo, was it. I see the PS3 as a 'complete package'. It was Wifi, High Def, Blu Ray, Web Browser, Bla bla bla, out of the box, so it DOES ALOT. Now thee are also a large amount of PS3 games that REALLY intrest me; MotorStorm, Resistance, Assasins Creed, MGS4, Mercenaries 2, GT 4 HD, DMC 4, and Lair. Now not all of those titles are worth buying a new system that cost $600, but all the extra features and great hardware specs, justify the hefty price tag. I INTEND to buy a PS3 WHEN MGS comes out (and Mercs 2), im NOTabout to buy one at launch, like any other sceptic, im waiting for the calm after the storm, to see how the PS3 will REALLY preform; both hardware and durability. Im not saying the PS3 WILL last 10 years because 'sony told me so', im talking about the hardware. One thing that im glad is the implementation of Blu Ray, which gives devs ALOT more room to move, instead of opting to HEAVY compression which can be a real killer (Oblivion anyone?). Who knows the PS3 could bomb in a years time, thats why im going to wait. I just find it funny how everyone ALWAYS says "0" when NO ONE is going to pay that much at all. Try $750-800. Sure, the selling price is $599, but add 1 extra controller, and 1 or 2 games, and then of course tax, and you'll be easily spending that much. Wii'll only be $350-400 after all that. A $400 difference? No thanks, Sony. But oh yeah i forgot BLU-RAY IT'S THE FUTURE!!!!
Seriously I don't know where you guys are getting the "24" people... gimme a break. You think Kotaku is stupid enough to only sample 22 people? They probably use that figure (although I don't know why they chose "out of 22") to give an idea. It's like me saying, 3 out of 10 people in North America own a PS2. Does that mean I only sampled 10 people?!
Here is the simple truth. The PS3 is more powerfull like it or not. The fact that you're getting a Blu-Ray player you're getting with it more than ustifies the price tag, again like it or not, and last but definetly not least the Sony has better games and the fact that Sony won more than half of the awards at TGS is more than enough proof of that. So stop *****ing and complaning and except the fact that the playstation brand is king, period.
PS3 is more powerful! Congrats! Who cares? The Xbox and the Cube were more powerful than PS2, and they didn't win. The DS is less powerful than the PSP, but outsells the PSP. Sonyfanboys and thier power thoery contradictions. Learn form history, in the world of gaming power doesn't claim the victor it just makes poeple say (Oh that looks nice!) That's it. Games matter and PS3 has lost AND IS losing alot of exclusive games. Look at all the games Ubisoft is throwing at the Wii, FarCry, Splinter Cell, Prince of Prersia etc. EA working hand and hand w/Wii and 360 madden, Godfather, Tiger Woods. Call of Duty on all consoles. 360 getting Assassin's Creed and GTA. Yep, Sony losing that exclusive grip! Hell, if buy a Wii and 360 for the price of PS3 you will eventually have all the games on PS3, just on the 360 plus the 360 exclusives, and all Wii games and exclusives. Buy 2 systems (360-Wii) have the best of all 3 consoles for the same price as 1 PS3, or buy only PS3 just for hype-sake and prove just how much of a Sony fanboy you are. Decisions Desicions
I think I have to agree with Sly. Especially his "yelling" post. haha. Some people might have a problem with me agreeing with a dude who yelled like that, but what really matters is whether or not HE'S RIGHT. And if you ask me, I agree with him. When I read all of these posts that bash Nintendo and say "Sony roxxorz", you know, I can't help but feel like the videogame industry is a lost cause. I feel like we've lost touch with our roots. It's strange how PS3 fanatics talk about tech specs fo the PS3 and how it excites them the most. This is kind of a fancy way of saying "graphics". Then you have the Wii enthusiasts talk about he controller and the immersive experience, and how fun it will be. Which is kind of a way of saying "gameplay". How many times has this been debated? Because I don't know if a single person here would argue against "gameplay over graphics".
I'm pretty sure they DID just sample 22 people. First of all, this wasn't meant to be a "determining poll" to see what all gamers were into after TGS. I was just a casual survey. Second of all, if they DID poll more people than 22, then the number would have been simplified into a fraction. It would be 7 out of 11, and not 14 out of 22.
