Shane Kim talks Halo 3: 360 has shot at taking down PS3 |

Microsoft has placed a huge amount of confidence on the success of Halo 3, and outspoken Shane Kim even goes so far as to say that its release may even ensure the Xbox 360's place above the Sony PlayStation 3. Kim further expresses an aggressive drive by the company to compete for the hearts of gamers.Kim, general manager at Microsoft's Game Studios, believes that the holiday season is a great opportunity for the Xbox 360 to maintain its lead over the PlayStation 3 for the remainder of this generation's console wars, especially with Halo 3 in the market spearheading its banner. He says:
We're pretty convinced that a lot of Xbox 360s are going to get sold along with copies of Halo 3. [...] We have a great opportunity to push [Sony] to the brink in terms of finishing behind us in this generation.
The release of Halo 3 and the sales of Xbox 360s will also be an indication of how much Microsoft has managed to gain back the trust of the consumer after the red ring of death issue. "From everything we can tell we have been able to remove a lot of concerns and doubts in people's minds," says Kim.

I'm an xbot and I already conceded to the PS3. Halo cannot kill the Sony brand.
Nobody trusts Microsoft since they're always seen as the Money hungry heartless bastards they are.
Sony on the other hand won't screw people over with clearly faulty hardware and lie to their faces.

I feel you. Its incredible how they let XBOX 1 fall !! I think the Months PS3 gets finally over the XBOBX 360, M$ will release XBOX 3 and let fall the 360 ...
I think the PS3 had a great shot especially with rumble back but now that there is no price cut they are going to have a hard time keeping up. i barely play my ps3 anymore and when i do it's warhawk
you're probably right. but seeing as how the 360 was xbox1.5 anyway, i think theyd be making xbox2. or dreamcast 2, however you want to think about it +) but yeah, if they release another console too quickly again, i really do think it will end up being another dreamcast.

and before blabbering why not think of persuading millions of Japanese and Asian to buy your Overhyped HALO 3. Your company maybe successful in fooling American, No not us Asians! we are smart enough not to be fooled into paying XBL nor 360. here in ASIA there are tons of great MMORPG which are FREE and or small price. The PS3 will be winning our wallets once FREE MMORPG's comes to PSN. first one is Angel Love Online. GT5 Prologue can also easily crush any tiny existance of halo 3 in the ASIAN/JAP market.
I hate it when people pretent to be xbox fanboys and say how they converted to the ps3. Why on earth would you go from a system with more than 100 games out and tons of great exlusives to a system with a few good games? Only reason I could think of is blueray but even that is a lame reason to switch.
I bought a PS3 after owning a 360, but I still prefer the 360's games anyday. If I could only keep one system, it would be the 360.
The best thing I can get out of owning both is a more diverse game selection.

Just kidding, but seriously, why someone would go to X360 to PS3? Well either for the good games "that are to come" because I can't imagine anyone boasting about PS3 having a better library at this point.
But then again, I can't even understand peoples interest in Xbox 360 in the first place since I'm not at all interested in a vast majority of the games for it.
Anyway, I don't think Halo 3 or anything could push Sony out of their position. But it's going to be a much slower race than I first thought because of two things. Seemingly no additional price cut for a while, and all the good games seem due 2008, and I didn't expect the games would come out that slow.
Yeah, and sony will kill M$ with heavenly sowrd? LOL such non-sense, no game can make a console win at all. BUT maybe, only for japan, with the final fantasies, but it's an exeption :S
So, what, if the 360 sells more units, does that mean that Polyphony Digital will stop working on GT5? Or that Konami will stop working on MGS4? Or that Guerilla will stop working on Killzone2?
Halo 3 is coming out soon, and after all of that excitement dies down, what else is there to look forward to? This is pretty much the pinnacle of the 360, and we all know that the PS3's got a looong way to go.
Halo 3 is a damn good game and hell may freeze over when it comes to the ps3, but it will not by any means even shake sony and the ps3. Soon killzone 2 will be available ( 2008 ) with graphical polish far exceeding H3 and may have some damn good gameplay to boot as well as MGS4.
In a years time the PS3 will have games far more superior than any other platform ( Minus the PC ) as long as the devs come up with the goods and sony knows it, with no worries.

vitz3 you can hardly state sony are exactly brilliant at truth telling either i mean what happend to the boomerang controllers and the nice light small ps3 advertised? i mean at least ms is fixing their hardware faults. but this guy does raise a point i mean with blu-ray having dreamworks cast them aside and it is a possibility this may take them to the brink note possibilty im not saying it will but its not like its going to boost ps3 sales this christmas.
I'm on 4th level now... cant say Im very impressed. Very repetetive, expecially when you've already played 2 earlier games that felt exactly the same, with many of the same enemies.
I was dying for the level to end so I could turn off and continue some other time... if I bother to.
I bought my ps3 first but then after i saw all ms AAA titles i bought a 360 n i like it more then my ps3 but who knows nobody thought the wii would outsell the 360 & ps3
I hope that they do make another Dreamcast, that was the best thing EVER! i play that more than any of my consoles

just another lame boring shooter with horrible game play along with a equally bad and oversize ripoff controller that was basically a rip off mixture out of the PS2 and the Gamecube. And the graphics are still the same as Halo 2
