Sex in Sony's PlayStation Home?

Sex at Sony's Home? - Image 1

Given the massive visual and conceptual similarities to Linden Lab's Second Life – of course that's not counting the supposed eherm, "ease of entry" advantage that Sony claims to have - Joystiq's Bonnie Ruberg points out that he can't help but speculate that PlayStation Home will soon be used for sexual activity.

Quick, name a communicative online space that doesn't have sex in it? Second Life has it, MySpace has umpteen tons of it, Tauren and gnomes are even trying to do it in Azeroth. Why should Sony's Home be free from it?

Given that Three Speech has informed that folks will be able to share - and decorate- their Homes with the media files saved in their PlayStation 3 hard disk drives, we now fear the things we'll be seeing in some folks' Homes. Adult content on PlayStation Home. Hah! More reason for you to buy a Bravia.

Well what about you folks? What's your take on the possibility that PlayStation Home will be infested with perversion?

Quite to the contrary, not everyone will have a PS3, especially not the myspace pervert fiends. lol(They have better things to spend their money on...)

» NO!!!

this better not happen, i know it is highly possible, but this just shouldnt happen. I am a proud owner of a ps3 and i have kids in the house...they dont need to see things like that!!! There are many children playing the ps3 as well...im sure sony could somehow block this type of content. Lets just hope!

by Kutibah - 2007-03-07 16:01
» well

I'm sure if Sony implements this, they will have parental controls enabled. That is an obvious must. Than again, Sony isn't a big fan of pr0n so it may be banned alltogether...

by spicyhamster - 2007-03-07 16:05
» NOOOO

never speak of this again! we don't want jack thompson to know about this. It'll give him just another reason to try and make gaming illegal, or whatever his ultimate goal is.

by Jitty - 2007-03-07 16:07
» why wouldn't it have sex?

Well first of all, if ESRB rates it, it would get an AO rating if it had sex in it. Second of all, I doubt sony would do that kind of thing. Remeber, they're the guys that didn't want porn on betamax (and kind of don't want it on blu-ray)

And I doubt there are enough horny bastards that have a ps3 for this sex feature to really need to exist... (as in, not having the sex feature would dissappoint like what? Ten ps3 owners?)

by Dan - 2007-03-07 16:10
» sex?

It's like saying the internet got sex. Of course there will be sex there, but that doesn't mean every citizen needs to participate, leave that to the pervert losers. ;)

» Watch the trailer.

Somewhere it said Private spaces, so it's at one's discretion if one wants to accept the invitation or not.

» lol

if it does go down, i cant wait to see sony's police avatars raiding the persons house. lol

by Manny151 - 2007-03-07 16:58
» censorship

I say Sony should have very strict regulations against it to avoid any problems that would bring a negative light to the gaming community.

by yo - 2007-03-07 17:07
» lol

that is so funny. then again after a couple of months u r gonna see hackers trying to mod and watnot. well just see wat happens.

by Blade - 2007-03-07 17:31
» My take...

It won't be allowed and if you do you are banned. No ifs ands or butts. No one will risk a $600 investment for the satisfaction of having a vagin on their wall for 20 minutes. They should be banned from using multilayer all together on that console.

by Devise - 2007-03-07 18:35
» ...

Yeah sony is going to build revolution software to check where a *****, tit, or clit is in a picture or movie then rate it exclusive for adult viewing. LOL there is no way to police this other than having police.

by pr0n lovers - 2007-03-07 18:41
» hmmm...

people will do this. get banned. will lose their money. i think it won't be that popular. i hope...

by MGSROCKS1 - 2007-03-07 19:40
» hmmm.....

I like that pic you have in your article Ian C. (*_*) Anyways, I'm pretty sure Sony is gonna have restrictions to using the program. And if you violate one of the rules, for example in this case having explicate material, then they will ban your account. You know, you can always send emails to Sony if your worried.

by xche78x - 2007-03-07 22:19
» logical

kids cannot afford the bravia therefore only adults will have such explicits. the ps3 has a very good parental control, if only parents utilize them.

by matt - 2007-03-07 22:20
» I think

I think you should be able to have whatever you want in your private space. I mean come on...it's PRIVATE. i see no reason to put restrictions on that personal area.

by MrMention - 2007-03-08 00:45
» Its a shame...

but sexual perversion is rampant and has saturated nearly every aspect of everyday life. Need proof? How about the shampoo ad where the woman is washing her hair and sounds like she's having an orgasm? Sexual saturation and predation is infinitely worse on the net, so all you parents take extra precaution and make sure you know what your kids are doing online AT ALL TIMES! You can't even have an innocent game of online chess without "invitations" anymore.

by Gamesdmc3 - 2007-03-08 03:17
» even if they do band u

u still came get back on,cuase when u get banned they bann your ip address, and if u have more than 1 internet connection like me ,all u half 2 do is switch 2 your other connection and u wont b banned no more, but im sure im never going 2 get banned, cuase i wont have any porn in my private space, cuase im not the only 1 in my family with a ps3..........and ive been banned from playstation.com about 4 times already...lol

by Samuel007sam - 2007-03-08 06:13
» Uh oh...

Well As QJ said Second Life has it...but not with loads of videos...this could be a little problem

» It took you that long........

to figure out that sex would play a part of it. You posted at 8:48PM. I am surpised that it took this long for this subject to make it online. All the uptight people in the US, will have a field day. Senate Hearings! Congressional Action! No wait, while I return my congressional page to his original upright position.

by Social Flaw - 2007-03-08 15:02
» what's wrong with US?

I agree. What's the big deal? We're OK with stomach turning violence in media, yet we condemn the second most common biological act like it was a sin! Time to put down the Bible and open our eyes a little, yes? It's not their programming we should be scrutinizing - it's our own.

by Yog Sloggoth - 2007-03-08 15:10
» Hooray!

Yeah...better your kids be exposed to God of War than sex, eh? Why don't you try talking to them, instead - maybe they'll end up breeding instead of being homicidal maniacs.

» just another feyd news

oh crap QJ forgot to deliver mail on my mailbox.

i smell fishy similarity to the gamepro scandal about supcom's retard score of 5 out of 10 and some very lame comments about supcom. what is the gaming world coming into. i thought dirty works are only for politicians?

by YSNP - 2007-03-09 10:00
» Come on...

Look, outside content is all controlled by Sony. The only things that are sexually explicit would be in people's individual homes... and you have to be invited to go to them. You'd better trust a person before you walk into their apartment, anyway. It's up to the person who owns the place to decide if they want porn in their apartment or not.

by anon - 2007-04-05 18:24
» POOP!

If your kids are one bit intelligent they won't fall to these perverts, so how about instead of commenting on gamer forums.. you know.. raising them, rather then leaving it to the PS3. (I wonder why Sony hasn't capitalised on this yet - PS3. Your system. Your friend. Your extra mommie.)

And on the day of recognizing, the lamb shall ask you, "hatht thou sinnt on the PlayThastion Three?" and god shall smite them who hastht, from the face of the Earth. Seriously, if heaven is only full of people who have never even thought of sin, I'd rather go to hell. At least it will be more social. Why are you even on a gaming forum?

by anon - 2007-04-05 18:39
» Lord!

No that's crazy talk. You're crazy. I should have the right to dictate to people whether or not they have the right to feel good. Porn is a sin, and those who have ever seen it will suffer for all time in underground sugar mines. Gwad will save all uh-s, tha Sathrn zhentlmeh-n and gahls, who haven't fallen pray to the evil that is satisfaction.
