Sega has confirmed that the Valkyria Chronicles DLC packs that Japan has already been enjoying for some time now will be released outside the region this Spring. Good to know that the game's low sales numbers hasn't affected the DLC releases. Here's a breakdown of the DLC:
  • Hard EX Mode - fight your way once more through the entire Imperial army, where the enemies are more lethal and your main tank Edelweiss is unavailable. You'll have to be more strategic in order to overcome your opponents.
  • Edy's Mission "Enter the Edy Detachment" - six members have been separated from Squad 7 and on their journey to reunite with the squad, they stumble upon a tiny village under attack by the Imperial Army. Play as Edy and command your outnumbered team to defend the small village from annihilation.
  • Selvaria's Mission "Behind Her Blue Flame" - this mission takes place right after the outbreak of Gallian battle lines and you play as Johann, a young and meek engineer, assigned to Selvaria's troop. See the action as it unfolds behind enemy lines and see the war play out through the eyes of the enemy.
No pricing details have been revealed yet, but if I recall correctly, the Japanese DLC was priced in ascending order, with Hard EX Mode as the cheapest at 300 yen (around US$ 2.80), Edy's Mission at 600 yen (around US$ 5.50), and Selvaria's Mission at 800 yen (around US$ 7.50). Perhaps a similar pricing scheme will be adopted.

» I can agree

with pricing everything but the Hard EX Mode. They really didn't do anything except change some numbers and code around to make it harder.

The other two are new maps which I can totally agree for charging since they created a whole new situation and map. If anything they should just bundle the three that way Hard EX Mode doesn't look like such a greedy ploy to get money.
