Sega still has plans of releasing Yakuza 3 in the US |
The way this news bit came out was a bit funny. The PlayStation Blog posted on the release of Valkyria Chronicles 2 for the PSP, but the comments section got a little off topic. Lucky for us, Sega assistant community manager Aaron Webber made it a point to reply to a few posts, so we are all treated to this piece of info - Sega still has plans of releasing Yakuza 3 in the US.
Good news, eh papajag? Same goes for all you guys looking to play the game.
Here's the post from Aaron Webber:
UNCyrus – let me brighten your day first off by confirming something big:
Yakuza 3 is not cancelled – and the possibility for localizing it does, in fact, still exist.
The original news story that went around about Yakuza 3 being declined for the US was false, and localizing the game still remains a big point of discussion for many people here at SEGA, and especially those of us on SEGAÂ’s community team.I know itÂ’s far from an announcement, but I just felt you should know that the chance does still exist.
Thanks for supporting SEGA and quality games like Valkyria Chronicles – I’ll be around with more news on VC/VC2 soon!
Well, there you have it. We'll keep you posted once more pertinent info comes along.

Im happy. Thanks Sega.
The only thing that they have to do imo is to make all the text in the game in english instead of japanese. An english voice casting isn't needed. It's a reality game and they don't speak english in Japan.
As long as i get english subtitles i'll be happy. In fact, english voicecasting would suck in this game.
There's still hope at the end of the tunnel! Btw, yakuza 4 is currently being made (or at least mentioned for TGS) right?
I love the yakuza games i was sad when i heard 3 isnt comin to us.
Sega you sonofgun. THANX:D
I like the feel of the game, and the authentic japanese environments (chalk full of tons of people and school girls) is definitely a nice change.
However, I played the game first on my Standard Def TV and thought it looked pretty nice. When I hooked it up to my 1080p screen I was horrified that it looks worse in HD.
The game has the same problem as ghostbusters where in HD everything is blurry as all hell. It is probably because they use quintrex AA in HD but in standard def can use traditional FSAA because of the low resolution.
It is the first game i've played on PS3 that looks better in Standard Def....if they can fix that I would be a go....or maybe i'd just play it on my SDTV.
quintux....auto spell correction is a ***** sometimes...
