A lot of fans of the old Sega games gave a whoop of joy when they announced the Mega Drive Ultimate Collection for the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 - then they saw the screenshots. Fortunately, Sega has clarified that the smoothing filters that make the games look "splotchy" can be turned off.

Personally I don't have a problem with smoothing, having gone through as many emulators as I have. It's nice to know I have the option of reliving the authentic retro feel though.

Sega has also confirmed that the games can be displayed in various aspect ratio settings:

The games will display at whatever ratio your console is set at – 4:3 or 16:9. If playing in 16:9 the game will fit and not have black borders at the side.

This is just another half-assed effort by SEGA.

Putting a bunch of games together with a few filters isn't good enough.

i was the one who pointed out that this only used filters on the previous article.

the pics above still shows filtering hehehe.

sorry sega, i hope there are still more nostalgic people who havent bought the entire sega ages ps2 library who would want this disc.

btw if there was a sega game that i really wanna have, its the old virtua racing arcade edition (console versions are ugly and boring). and its hard to track the ages version due to its japanese nature.
