Sega holds Yakuza 3 event, reveals release date, price, talents - Image 1Sega Japan held a press conference earlier today to give out details about the PlayStation 3 exclusive Yakuza 3 which will be released in the region early next year. The event was attended by producer Toshihiro Nagoshi as well as voice and music talents from the game.

It was revealed during the event that Yakuza 3 will be hitting Japanese retail shelves on March 6 with a price tag of 7,980 Yen or roughly around US$ 75.

The story of the game will be narrated by radio DJ and Pride announcer Kei Grant. Executive Director Hideki Okamura then went up the stage and said that the idea behind Yakuza 3 is to rekindle the samurai spirit and the "true Japanese heart" that seems to have faded in the younger generation of today. Nagoshi concurred by saying:

I personally love Japan, but I've gotten this strange feeling of late, a feeling of loneliness. I wanted to produce something in response to this, so I changed the time frame from the modern period to the historical period.

There's still no word regarding an international release but it is highly expected that Sega will soon be confirming that as well. Aside from already mentioned, the talents for the Japanese version of the game had already been revealed:
  • Voice actor Takaya Kuroda will take the lead role.
  • To be joined by Shouta Matsuda, Masaya Kato, Takashi Tsukamoto, and Koujyu Meguro.
  • Yinling of Joy Toy will have her voice and likeness appear in the game. She had a feature role in Grasshopper Manufacturer's PS2 game Michigan.
  • Zeebra will perform the game's opening theme Bushido.
  • Ketsumeishi will be performing Life is Beautiful, the game's ending theme song.
