My point was evidently a little too complex for you to handle, apparently. This site has ALWAYS been pro-hacking. If you don't like it, gtfo. It's really as simple as that. It's like going to a Chelsea fan site and asking why nobody there supports Arsenal.

Secondly, any game developed by competent developers fared just fine online. Proof is in MPO+, which was by and large unhackable bar a few item glitches. If devs don't put the effort into encrypting their memory in an embedded system (which is synonymous with hackable, as history proves) then it's their own fault. Period.

People, you can buy a chevy & supe up the engine, put on custom wheels, hook up nitrous, & modify the engine in all kinds of ways. Wouldn't most people think it would be crazy if Chevy had the ability to "update" there engines After you bought it. And say "well you can keep your mods on it, but if you don't update the engine to our new version you can't drive it on roads anymore" (like Sony blocking online if you don't update!)

The funny thing is that the DMCA says that SMARTPHONE jailbreaking is legal... but the iPod touch isn't a phone, is partially marketed as a gaming system, and that is still legal somehow. The PS3 should fall under the same ruling.

"Mobile" devices are legal to be jail-broken. The PS3 is decidedly not "mobile". Maybe he should have modded it with a battery pack and an LCD display to make it "mobile".

BTW, he is now asking for donations to help with the legal expense. I for one will be donating, not to help him, but for helping to retain our rights as end-users of anything we buy. M$ can't prevent "unauthorized" software in Windows by say you have to use MS products only. They also can't deny developers access to Windows components they use in non-OS related circumstances. (It's why "unsigned" drivers can be installed.)

His alleged illegal use of his cracked PS3(besides the crack itself)? Playing Super Mario World.

there is a history of the us courts siding with sony's side in this type of case i bring up the 2600 DeCSS debacle and there was another E-book case where a Russian company was sued for violating US law mind you what that company did was not in violation of Russian law... Neither was ruled for the defendant both was for the "victim" company.

Both were charged with crimes outlined in the DMCA.

I develop an N64 emulator. I do plan to port it to the PS3. To that end I have two PS3's. One which I will crack for homebrew and Linux(I haven't cracked it yet, but I do use Linux on it as I kept it on 3.15) and one which I will use for Blu-Ray/PS3 Gaming. I also have a PS2, 360, 2 PSP's, an N64 (with several dozen games), and a Wii. My Wii and 360 are not cracked. I haven't cracked my 360, because MS does allow my to use it how I want to(XLIG = indie development, Sony should take some notes from MS) I still buy my games(even on the PSP, but have only bought a few I thought were worth it).

BTW, emulation is legal as long as none of the original firmware/software is given away or in our case not even used. (Sony sued Bleem! out of business they lost the case on all counts however.)
