Security breach: PlayStation Home decrypted by hackers; potential cause for delay? |

Ó

Ohnoes. Here's something even I wouldn't dare touch with a 20-foot pole. Report I shall, however, to keep you guys in the know. We got one iffy news item on our hands, plus a corresponding bit of rumor: a 2-for-1 combo, if you will.
Earlier, a hacker was reported to have been able to fully unpack and decrypt PlayStation Home beta 0.86. The hack supposedly includes "binaries, scripts, and even in-game executable code." No developments have come out of the hack just yet, and hackers have seen this as something that could eventually lead them to further discoveries.
Be that as it may, the news of the hack has caused some people to panic. Whispers on the web are now saying that PlayStation Home might be delayed due to the disclosure of these sensitive files.
Thanks to James for the heads up.

but i honestly could imagine that this is an excuse, it might be real (someone hacked Home LOOOONG time ago), but not neccesarily the course for the apperently upcomming delay :(

anyway, a sercurity breach is serious but can be sorted out fairly easily, depending how far along the hack is, and taking into account the other hacks im heard of, hackers come out to glorify themselves for doing it, the second they do it, and because of it the hack isnt developed to be of much use, and gets fixed
anyway i HIGHLY HIGHLY EXTREMELY doubt that it was hacked to the extent claimed

and if people stopped trying to acces/hack it, then we could have been haviong it on our systems by now! think about that.
do note, im NOT accusing you of hacking :) im just saying... something random.

It might be true that you can't really do anything worthwhile with the decrypted files, but trust me - you can inspect them and understand how they work, find security flaws etc.
...Not that I would download these files, though.

OMG IT'S OLD WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT FLFAM FALFAMFAM.
Just kidding, I read the fix. +D
But still, for every update, the ENTIRE code is not updated, just parts to accompany new features, fixes, etc.
So much of this code will still work for future versions.
"but i still don't get why people want to hack suff, why can't they just show of their skills by actually MAKING something themselves instead of hijacking systems (pentagon...)"
As for that, something are obviously harder to hack than others. And...if you COULD hack the Pentagon, you would get partyV+ immediately.
"zOMG LOOK I HACKED THE PENTAGON!!!!!111!!!one!!! OH SHI-- BRB FBI."
Not flamming, but if you take it wrong, then I was flamming you, hardcore flamming.

hehe, I'm from Denmark, though i wasnt the hacker, just so you know xD...
and i know that updates does NOT wipe out early versions data, but in Home's case they did so you HAVE to update to use, AND with the new version you have to get a personal Beta(-code)-invitation!
hehe, im not "flaming" either :)
oh, and the danish hackers, they got arrested almost immedietly :)
