Sucker Punch's inFamous seems to have no other recourse but to prove that it is indeed famous. Especially when Sony itself professes such high hopes for this latest addition to the growing collection of must-have PS3 titles.

According to an SCEE spokesperson: "We have high hopes for inFamous, which are backed up by a number of high profile, and very positive, specialist and mainstream press review scores." Which is true, actually. The game has been garnering a steady stream of praise and positive reception. In fact, that positive reception has probably overdone as its street date was broken by a good two weeks in the Middle East.

inFamous is already out and available, so if you're not really in the loop as to what this game has to offer, you can grab a copy now and see for yourself what the hype and expectations are all about.

» I agree with you!

This game is awesome. It's the first game in a long time that I can't stop playing. I love being able to climb anything and everything. Forget all the haters, you'll regret not picking this title up.

» seriously?

I'm a huge PS3 fan, and I only buy PS3 exclusives. But this is one game I'm gonna pass on.

I played the demo, with high hopes that it will blow me away. It didnt even come close. I found the graphics horrible. Everything from cole's running to his super human jumping to jagged edges to non existant shadows to Cole's face while he was talking was poorly done. IMO this game could've used much more polish in that sector.

But no, I decided to overlook that and focus on gameplay instead. This too was a disappointment. It was SO repetitive! Bad guy shoots, you shoot lightning arc. Get on train, get off train, energize box, get back on train...

The enemies were all so repetitive too. On top of all of this, I felt like throwing up. Fast camera motions + bright colors + bad graphics made m want to puke.

This may be the ultimate game for some, but I think I"ll just pass,

which year did you become a gamer??

DLC, online/multiplayer is a bit new... and along with that, the averages' games' story, quality has declined quite a bit.

it's like singers and rappers, not too many people can actually "sing" while it's not that difficult to become a rapper.

which is why we have so many artist' today.

it's almost the same with games.

the previous games was quality (most of the time) and took some real talent, but todays' games, you just need to add online and some strange DLC, and you're famous.

(if educated) anyone can make a good game purely with online multiplayer.

no flaming intended here, my way of saying stuff just gets registered negatively most of the time :(

» hmmm....

Played the demo and it seemed pretty good. No multiplayer or dlc was a bit of a bummer but i pretty much only got my copy for the uncharted 2 beta code =]

» UNCHARTED 2 10/1/09

That is 1 of of the PS3 exclusives that everyone can agree that its a must have +)

by Silver-Tiger - 2009-05-27 21:38
» You only buy PS3 Exclusives?!

you gonna miss a lot of great titles like GTA4 and Final Fantasy XIII.

by StingBlah - 2009-05-28 01:17
» well...

i lied...kind of. GTAIV is the one non-exclusive I own, and one of my fav games. People are comparing this game's graphics to GTAIV, but IMO GTAIV is wayyyyy better.

And for FFXIII I can rent that one and buy Versus.

by thomas_fogh - 2009-05-28 01:18
» DLC??

Oh, you mean the stuff you pay extra for, which should have already been in the game when you bought it... ;)

by BigGulps - 2009-05-28 02:46
» GTAIV graphics

Yeah, GTAIV graphics are better, but you're wrong about the gameplay. I wish Sony would have released a better demo; the game is far more in depth. I can go around healing people with electricity like a defibrillator, upgrade all my powers, jump from the highest of buildings onto a group of enemies, and I have the choice to be good or evil. I don't know what more people want from a game. This game dishes out gameplay of epic proportions and if you're basing your opinion solely off the demo then you have no right to bash the game.

» SOCOM ?

Well by you rational Socom should be an amazing game...because it is completely online, completely based on multiplayer, and will have DLC in the future......too bad it is a mediocre game.

A game definately does not need multiplayer and DLC to be a good game....those are considered add-ons for most games.

by blkthunda - 2009-05-28 10:14
» ..

Yeah that one. People like to pay extra.

» Wow

Game deserves a lower score just because it doesn't have MP? I hate that kind of thinking, and it seems to be the majority opinion since game devs have taken notice and more frequently are tacking on *****ty MP modes the game doesn't need, using time and resources they could use on making the single player even better. As a consequence the multiplayer is garbage and not worth playing anyway, and the single player takes a hit.

I played the demo for this yesterday, it's a great game that I'm gonna buy asap. Haven't bought a PS3 game in awhile. But I can tell you just from playing the demo infamous is not a game that lends itself well to multiplayer, it just wouldn't work very well. If the devs threw in a mp mode it'd have the exact effect I just described, it'd be a piece of sh*t anyway and not worth wasting time on, and the main game would be worse.

» Jesus....

I'm sick and tired of people wanting online multiplayer on games. IT DETRACTS THE STORY FROM THE SINGLE PLAYER EXPERIENCE.

Back in the day single player offline campaign is what made games fun. Sure having online gives some extra replayability, but ffs not ALL GAMES need online. There's people like me who wants good offline experience, leave those online mode for games likes Sports, first person shooters..etc. Hell, this is partial the reason i'm hugely skeptical about Uncharted 2 cause of the online addition. Don't try to convince me since right now, I'll wait for myself, but adding online for the sake of it to a sequel to a game that was probably the best story(offline campaign) experience on this gen for PS3 is really a downer to me.

Infamous is a smashing title, fun and a open world game. COMPLETE FREEDOM. DLC is cool and all, but not everyone cares about that crap. Online is going to ruin gaming as far as I'm concerned, especially for games that don't need it.

» miss understanding

The fact that it don't have multiplayer or online play doesn't mean the game SUCKS.The game is not what everyone is making it out to be.It a good rental.look u have uncharted 1ps3 exclusive its an amazing game that doesn't have multiplayer or online and it a grate game i don't think infamous fits in with these grate games titles in my opinion.

by Stealth! - 2009-05-28 13:58
» I'm not misunderstanding anything

I think you don't understand what I'm saying. You posted and I quote ".....no multiplayer no online and wait!!! NO DLC its a rent."

Games don't need DLC, in fact most of the DLC that's been out is overpriced and SHOULD'VE been within the game at launch. Online mode shouldn't make this title any better or worse. Sucker Punch is a fantastic devevlopers who make quality titles, and while it's not 95/100 metacritic Score, it's a 86 score and that's a fantastic must buy title. Games are first and foremost meant to be fun. Period. And all the reviews I see for a game that doesn't do anything new or innovative is just that; FUN!!!

Uncharted doesn't have multiplayer yes, but Uncharted 2 is going to have it. Which is why I'm skeptical but knowing myself, I'll still get it. People continue to want online or DLC in games that don't really need it. I don't want to spend 5 dollars on BS dlc that should have been within the game.

inFAMOUS is a fantastic game and a must buy for PS3 users. People and fanboys constantly trying to say "PS3 doesn't have good exclusives, or many" yet when they do GET A GOOD EXCLUSIVE, you guys says "Bleh, it sucks, PS3 still has no good games; 360 is better" than all that tells is your a spoiled fanboy wanting the scores to hit over 90's(or 9.0's) and when you do get the occasionally critically acclaimed games, you don't like them. And by "you" I mean in general.

And by the way, saying something "Sucks" is a strong word which people use trying to state a universal fact. It shouldn't be used when stating an opinion statement. If you want to say "It's a good game but nothing spectular, worthy rent" than that's fine, but don't say "This game SUCKS imo" cause that's a grammar error and misuse of a word which makes people read them and call you out. Sucks is a strong word and when used within a sentence or opinion it comes off as the individual passing off their opinion as fact unintentionally . Which causes flames wars and *****. The game does what it's meant to do, a cool game that's open world, have powers, some difficulty, and FUN!!. That's what games are for, to have fun.

» it's ok

If i say it suck it's my opinion so take it easy it just a game why so touche. It's a good game but it could have been better so if u like it play it.For those that are thinking about getting infamous should think about renting it first b4 u send $65

by blackstealth - 2009-05-31 01:50
» Its a must have

In my opinion, INFAMOUS is a must have. Like many have said its the first game in a while that you want and have fun playing. I think now its common courtesy for some to just not like any thing Sony releases; regardless if its a great game. Sony is doing what it needs to by releasing great exlusive content for us true gamers. Microsoft is great with making games with DLC and multiplayer; but in doing that they do lose on the offline campaign, I mean how long was halo 3 and gears of war2? My son beat gears of war 2 in one weekend which he liked but deemed short. This game deserves the score it received and I hope Ps3 users don't miss out on such an epic game.

I thought the demo on the PS Store was kinda bleh but the full game is fantastic. I've barely been able to stop playing it since it arrived in the mail last friday. I'm on my second playthrough this time being a bad guy.

Another top quality PS3 exclusive and for me it's the best game of the year so far.

You kidding? GTAIV I thought had ok graphics. InFamous has excellent graphics and is a far more fun game and a heck of a lot tedious especially when restarting missions
