LittleBigPlanet - Image 1 When Sony Computer Entertainment Europe president David Reeves told PS3 Fanboy that Media Molecule's upcoming PlayStation 3 exclusive LittleBigPlanet would allow players to sell their creations on an "iTunes meets eBay" system, it drew mixed reactions from fans. Some welcomed the move and saw enterprising opportunities while others saw it as an inhibitor to the community's growth.

The discussions got so loud that SCEE just had to clear up what's been said by Reeves. According to the company, all LittleBigPlanet user content will be free at launch.

"SCEE and Media Molecule can guarantee that all consumer-generated content will be free at launch. We know how important this is to the LBP community and what we want most is for people to enjoy playing, creating and sharing their content," said SCEE to Eurogamer.

Round one goes to those who favor free content in the game. The questions is for how long will content stay free? Let the great debate begin!

Free at launch

Sounds like a play on words to me. Yes, it's likely free at launch, but could be changed up afterwards.. I'm treading lightly here. I was really hyped for this game. It's THE game to get for me.. but that news hit like a ton of bricks.. and I'm learning to expect the worst.

ditto

they better not do this, its create play share, not create play sell.... if anything the only thing they should be able to sell is BIG ground breaking levels like a perfected mario level package for 3.49... it would have to have all the levels... lol

Won't Happen

Look, i don't know why you people are panicking cos the simple fact is that you have a choice of wether to give away your levels free or wether to in fact sell em, and seeing as most people will get the free levels as opposed to paying for the ones that cost you pennies then. Trust me on this one, only really big designed levels will cost you money and they will never be in the top 100 Downloads cos people love the free stuff. So in effect everything is still gonna be free for this game unless you want to shell out money for levels, in which case thats your problem not mine.

charging for content

When word of the charging for DLC by users first came up, the stories said Media Molecule would be picking out who can charge based on their prowess with level design. I think everyone has forgotten this little tidbit.

so your saying

only the best of the best LBPer's will be able to sell their content? and they will have to be chosen by a offical and the user themselves will have to make choices on that? lol then i hope yall are looking forward to buying my mortal kombat themed levels :)
