GameInformer.com recently had the chance to sit down and chat with Peter Dille, SCEAÂ’s Senior VP of Marketing, after the latter's presentation during CES 2007. Amidst talk of the PS3's post-launch numbers and the obligatory comments about how their rival companies are doing, Dille also found the time to discuss the PS3's European launch and even a (tiny) bit on Sony's plans for the PSP in 2007. Here are some of the interview's highlights:
European launch. Dille declined to comment on some speculation that there are going to be "big updates" before the PS3's European launch, but he did confirm that the launch is definitely still on track. "They're set for March and looking forward to it," Dille said. He also added that once the European launch is over, PS3 supplies will "become less of an issue for us no matter what territory you're in."
Bluetooth drops. "That's a technical question and probably a little out of my purview. We've actually heard it a lot from the gaming press. I think part of that is based on the proliferation of devices you have on your desktops. It hasn't become a huge consumer issue."
Backward compatibility. According to Dille, Sony is "hard at work on a number of titles" and the company wants to "come out with a catalogue of quality titles that will be meaningful." Dille also said that Sony plans to release a steady stream of PS1 titles on a weekly basis in order to give people a reason to keep visiting the PlayStation Network. He also said that with a firmware update, these titles will be playable on the PS3.

Also if I know $ony, there will be no DVD upconversion. Why? Then there will be less blu ray movie sales which sony needs to try to win over HD-DVD. That's why PSPs can't play video from a memory stick in full resolution! They want the UMD movie sales. Maybe you can rely on homebrew to fix sony's greed like with the PSP!
