XMB access while playing???

some people could use that but personally i could live without it... if i'm playing a game then i'm playing a game... i don't need the XMB when i'm in a game.

i think that the psn needs multitasking use the spare SPU it will be sweet to watch a video music photo web ps store and instant message all by clicking the ps button i applaud them for going further then just in-game music.

PSN not the XMB

This is about changes to the PSN, not the XMB. What I'd like to see improved is the awful PSN store browser. The mouse doesn't work properly (the cursor jumps to the nearest button -- annoying to say the least). Also, L1 and R1 should jump backwards and forwards in history instead of having to click Prev and Next which is impossible to get to with the D-Pad if there's a long description of the current item you're browsing. Make it more like the other browser!

exactely! plus, I would be great if they made all demos accessable for everyone, no matter what language their store has. and I'd love to have an other possibility to pay (dont have an own credit card)

what i really miss: - internet radio: i want to be able to listen to shoutcast radio stations - remote play: why tha f*ck do i have to manually copy files from my pc to the ps3, if they're both in the same network? why can't i play music directly from my pc?

PSN STUFF

I would like to see the PSN be a bit more organised and easier to navigate to the content you are after. It shouldnt only be split up into 4 catagories and should be the same format worldwide instead of having different styles in each teritory. I prefer the US layout as it has the all items section and that is easier to find what your after than the UK one. They should just have them in categories like Demos, Full games, Game Addons, Videos, Music, PSOne 4 PSP etc. I also think that more content should come out on all worldwide stores instead of only getting certain stuff per teritory. More demos should be made available also (A bit more like on the 360s Live service) as it would be better to play a demo before going to get the full game. They should also forget about the crap adverts too and just keep it down to games/movies videos.

That along with for older content, alphabetise the content and have pictures, and maybe video to show what the game is.

More sort options in Picture, video and Music folders. At least "goto bottom" option... Change the Idle trigger to NOT execute Folding@ when played music or slide show

That's an XBOX 360 feature, playing music from the PC. Internet radio is useless.

What I would like to see...!

Hi all. I love my PS3 for the most part & use it exactly as a media entertainment unit & not just games (I do love my games though, lol)! I would like to see an increased shuffle option when I use my PS3 to listen to music. I have MANY MP3's on my system & it will allow a "shuffle" feature only on the music/songs that are in the folder I'm listening to?! I would love it if the PS3 could just shuffle play any of my MP3's instead of being limited to the album/folder of the song I'm currently listening to.

xmb access anywhere chat privatly anywhare including in game (like xbl ) send game invites anywhere to anyone so when your playing a game you get an invite you then press the invite and it auto joins no inter game invite to people who are ONLY playing the game cheers that would make my psn service better than xbl because im used to it now

Its also a feature for ps3 users. Google Orb, download the program and have fun streaming pictures, music and video directly to your Ps3 through the browser. It works great and looks just like Media Center. Oh yeah, its free too!

Voice Messaging

Access The XMB during games is a must, at least to retrieve & send messages, send or accept freind invites, access the voice chat feature. But we need some kind of voice messanging CMON. Oh yeah and when you press the PS button real quick its pretty cool that you can see the little battery meter, but how about adding the time as well, having to browse through the XMB to check the time is a pain.

The time thing would be convenient, and it's already on the PSP, so I don't see why not even though I can click the info button on my TV remote and get the time anyways..

All the aformentioned suggestions would be great improvements to the PSN. Also in my opinion i think the PSN doesn't have to neccessarily copy Xbox live (ex: the PSN doesn't have to have its own blade or GReen background and stuff cause its the PSN) but at least copy the basic essientials of an online unified social service that XBox live provides,....just the basics the core basics like game invites and accessing menus while in game or better chatting options then after getting the core basics down take things in its own direction through stuff like the Playstation HOME thingy they talked about at GDC or even....hmm let me think. How about accepted more methods to pay for PSN stuff like debit cards or paypal or finally release those playstation cards that are still not on shelves yet (comon there freaking pieces of paper with numbers on the back how long can it take to get those on shelves). Anyways those are my immediate ideas i can think of that can improve the PSN.

yes, I can start the content after downloaded it, but I have to exit from the store first then go to Games or Movies in the XMB. I mean an option like MSIE that let you open the file inmediately after download is completed.

For bomber who posted earlier, it is possible to play all the mp3's (not in the same folder) by sorting through them by pressing the square button. This feature can be used (listening to music I mean) while surfing the net. What Sony needs to improve upon is access to music while playing games, folding @ home, and surfing the net. A mini music player similar to winamp would be helpful. Sony should also implement folders for MP4's. I have hundreds of MP4's and a folder marked #-A-Z would be a great help. Thx

how about moderated or non-mod CHAT ROOMS, so i can have more friends. voice and video chat while playing online multiplayer games such as SUPER STREET FIGHTER 2 TURBO HD. and PLEASE release the PLAYSTATION CARD (prepaid cards) so non credit card people and incompatibles can purchase stuff on PSN. ill comment later on more enhancements for PS3, my ideas can make a success faster see. hehehe

Least important things: Custom background pictures, maybe even a video with a 10 second loop would be cool. You should be able to change the fonts and the colour of your PSN name and that will be shown in every game you play. If someone clicks on your name it would have info. like if you are using a HDTV, using a pad/wheel/mouse, 5.1 surround, like having a little rep. thing going on. More important: The XMB ingame options mention above with none stopping music (at all!) and player names so you can send messages make friends lists etc... SO SO important: the host of any game should be able to press the PS button and in the XMB there should be a option to see everyones names in your room and from there you can check everyones ping and boot people with bad pings for about 3 hours. The lagging in a lot of rooms is a joke like motorstorm is the worst i have seen, i think this will help.

Time as well...

Yeah. I've got no clock visible in the games room, so pressing the PS button to show the time is a MUST!!! Of course access to the XMB for Friends messaging would be very welcome. You can access it while browsing, so add the feature to the PS Store (listen to music while browsing the store - it cuts the music off when you launch the store).
