SCEA explains why Uncharted: Drake's Fortune is region locked |

Sony Computer Entertainment America Line Producer Sam Thompson posted an article over at the official PlayStation Blog, providing an explanation regarding the newly-released demo for PS3 exclusive Uncharted: Drake's Fortune. As you all know, the demo hit the North American PlayStation Store just yesterday. Thompson said that the demo was only released for said region because the full copy of the game will be launched there first.
"Other territories are currently putting the finishing touches on the localization aspects of the Uncharted: DrakeÂ’s Fortune demo, and will release it in their respective PlayStation Stores in due course," the line producer added.
If you happen to live in Japan and in Europe, take note that there's no way that you can acquire the demo as of now. It has been region locked. Sam Thompson further commented:
As many of you in Europe and Japan may have already learned, today's demo is currently only available on the North American PlayStation Store, and will only work on PS3 units in that territory...
Unfortunately when attempting to download the demo, our friends in PAL regions or Japan may have encountered a bug in which you are asked to insert a disc. Please ignore this prompt and accept our apologies.
The full retail copy of Naughty Dog's Uncharted: Drake's Fortune will be launched in U.S. this coming November 19 while our friends in Europe and Japan can expect it during the first week of December.

I live in the UK, have an American PS3 and was able to play the demo. I guess as long as you have an US PS3 and a US account, you can download it anywhere.
I have UK ps3 and both eu and us accounts. Downloaded this morning and mine won`t play it. No warning, no `wrong disc inserted` message, it just crashes my ps3.
Yet again we get shafted
i get their idea........a english language version of the game would make my german PS3 make explode....... so i wont be able to play a imported version of the game?
jokes aside, wtf are they doing? we have a *****ty store and are , lets say mildly forced to use the US store . globel play humm?
This is just cr@p .. I want to play uncharted now!
off subject, but wtf, do they have to convert these pictures to french and spanish to release in europe. joke
only US gets them, and i can only use then in my us account. (they suck anyhow).
New demo has been placed on the US website that works in all regions!!! Can now play the demo in australia / europe / japan..... Thanx Naughty Dog for fixing the problem so quickly! You will have to re-download the demo, but i repeat: it now works in europe!!!! ps its awesome
Anyway don't worry guys You will have the demo soon enough. Besides there is game coming out that will take our time. Its a very good month for games.
