Santa sells PS3 for $ 1

One dollar PS3Now this may seem crazy, but it looks like a very charitable guy called On Ouchs from Canada is about to make a PlayStation fan very happy on Christmas. How, you ask? By hand-delivering a brand new Sony PS3 which s/he will have bought from eBay for just US$ 1!

On Ouchs paid $1,700 CAD (about $1,500 USD) for a PS3 60 GB console and the games Resistance: Fall of Man and Marvel Ultimate Alliance as well as an extra wireless controller. He also paid $ 750 to get a spot in line at his local game store. Now he wants to give someone a happy Christmas by giving it away for virtually nothing.

To try and "win" the PS3 auction for $ 1, you can try buying it now, but remember to register first at the Write to Santa page (just follow the Read link at the bottom of this post). Anybody who makes what On calls the "good list" will be placed on a pre-approved bidder list to buy the PS3 for just $1, and at that point, whoever gets the bid in first wins. Delivery is free worldwide and On Ouchs is making an effort to be able to deliver the PS3 by hand to the bidder's doorstep if possible. His reasons for doing this?

Now why - you ask - am I doing this? I am a nice guy and I want to make someone's Christmas a little brighter this year.

I want to make history and, in the process, maybe make an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and other television talk shows. I was initially going to list this PS3 for $1 million, with 90 percent going to charity, but found others had already gone that route. I wanted to be unique and, quite possibly, give a PS3 to someone who might not be able to afford it otherwise.

It's called be very kind to others. I don't know if you notice but that is very rare in the world. Average people are extremely cruel to each other. It's nice to see a friendly good hearted person left in the world.

What is horrible is that I read some of these forums and can't believe how mean people are to each other. Kids mainly.

chickdigger802, you only would've "heard" because you clearly aren't a big enough fan to own a PS3 yet...

It looks fine on a regular TV, why would it look any worse than an Xbox or a Wii?

PS3 looks great even on a SDTV. Although having a HDTV is much better, When I cant use my 100" I play on my 26" SDTV and it looks great in comparison to PS2 and Xbox.

ha are you stupid you think this guy is good hearted hes just some big fat rich American who wants to make him self feel all big and mighty giving to the poor whilst gaining his 10 minutes of fame just like all those other big fat rich people who give to charity. You cant honestly think he is some kind hearted genourous guy just by giving away a ps3 to some random person.

I made a topic on gamespot and the results are clear. Everybody who played on SD found the ps3 to look AWESOME!

dah it's not HD, but it's superb anyway, just think about it, the movies in the games are looking awesome on SD no? so why should the games on SD who don't even match the movies of the games could be looking bad?

anyway, everybody was telling me that the motorstorm demo on a tube tv is WOW! so nobody should care about the TV ( I have a sony wega 32" tube TV outputting 480i and I think my TV is completly perfect!!! and it cost around 470$, so it's not "that" much! :D

and for the topic, I wonder why he did this... maybe he's RICH, or maybe he have some mental problem... anyway I live in Canada and I'd live to be his friend, lol. ( what? that's my gift? OH *****! ) *joke

Off topic first @ chickdigger802 uneducated comment.

The PS3 looks as fine/normal on a standard TV as any other console. It doesn't look like crap. It simply looks a lot better on a big HD TV.

Anyway, I don't get why some peopl bash this kid. He's doinga good thing. God bless him, and I hope the one who actually wins the PS3 is one of those who really cant afford it.

it's sad that when someone does something altruistic (or as near to altruistic as humans can get) that he gets flamed by more people than he gets praised by...

you're all evil people, i'd like to believe there's some people out there still who are willing to give and not just take.

mr.common sense may have a point, but hopefully whoever gains from this guy's generosity will honor his intentions.

i also think it's sad you have to be labelled 'a christian' to need to believe in a good deed, i'm a staunch unbeliever - you couldn't pay me to join... but i still believe in people.

yeah...he'll make/get more then the playstation is worth....

I seriously hope you don't mean that. When someone does somethign this nice for someone else, why would you criticise them for it? Like Kel said, this kind of generocity is an extremely rare thing in this world. The guy admitted to wanting to go on the Tonight Show, but who cares? If he's doing this solely to get attention, then so be it. Someone is still getting a PS3 for a dollar. Either way, that sounds like something I'd consider incredible.

So he would get to pocket the other $900,000?

Nice!

# WHATTTTTTTTTGuest 2006-12-20 03:52
I hope that was a typo..

1,000,000/100+10,000 (which is 1%)

10,000x90(%)+900,000 (going to charity)

10,000x10(%)+100,000 (his keep)

in your words "gets to pocket the other 900,000"

that means

900,000 for charity + 900,000 he 'pockets' +

1,800,000

almost 2 million? errr no.

anyway, that's a really nice thing to do. whether he genuinely wants to make someone happy, or just wants his 5 minutes of fame..

i hope it brightens up someone less fortunate's christmas. :)

i think its nice that he is doing this and so what if he wants to be noticed. it is something great he is doing so he deserves his 5 minutes i think. i doubt that kid is super rich that he can just throw money around if so then he would have just bought out all the ps3s at that store, wouldnt he have? i bet that kid had saved up a lot and his parents are probley pretty well off but its no reason to bash him. i just hope someone less forunate gets that ps3 and doesnt sell it but plays the hell outta it!

Even if he is big, fat, and rich; he's most likely Canadian. It wouldn't really matter if he was from the depths of hell though, because what he's doing is still cool despite your stupid ass flaming him. It irritates me though that you "people" (meaning annoying, little piss-ants) can't just recognize that someone is actually trying to be decent.

P.S. I'm dual U.S. and Canadian, so before you jump to dissing either, or; know that I could care less.

The funny this is I was waiting for someone like Timmy to just show how bad people are, someone tries to do something nice and he feels the need to bash.

I'm so glad there are some people out there that actually care about others, cause you show that humanity is going nowhere fast. Thanks to some of the kinder people on this site that actually feel the way I do. Timmy maybe you should look at yourself before bashing a Christian and bashing other people cause yourself look worse than everyone here. Do you feel good about yourself? Of course, you'll just spam "I don't care blah blah" than log off and go "Wow, I'm an ass and I actually hate myself right now"

he has listed two situations. One would, or should I say could, net him $100,000 dollars. A charity would get $900,000. That's nice. But why should he get $100,000 for selling a PS3? The other would get him some time in the spotlight. I hardly see him doing something ultimately for some lucky person on the list. That's only a small part in his obvious plan.

this is what I'd think the true spirit of X-mas is; giving to others. The people who said he's stupid, go and take a hard look at life. Sure, he could have put it for a million or higher, but he's doing it for . He will get more then a million dollars in good feelings in his heart. Trust me; if oyu do something like this, you'll feel better then if you got ,000,000.

Also, i have to say, quite a few of the people here are self-centered, thinking about "whats in it for me", and "go for the money stupid, are you crazy?". Man, this is how people act...

He is doing it so he can get his 15 minutes of fame and be on these stupid talk shows. And, as he claimed, he originally wanted to take a 10% cute of the sale from charity resulting in him making $100 000. Tell me how that is 'kind' or 'generous'. He should have done what he was originally planning, except give 100% to charity, then he would be a good guy. But he's only doing it for self satisfaction and glory

dmz do you even know what a bid is?

he's seeking fame and money, he is far from altruistic.

if you can't afford to buy a ps3 and you don't sell it, you'd be either stupid or young enough to not have bills.

"just like all those other big fat rich people who give to charity" hardly. maybe you honestly don't care about anyone other than yourself, other people do. money is only the means to an end, and those ends aren't always materialistic.

most of the affluent people i have ever met deserve every penny, their drive and determination is what gets them to that point in life. the ones who don't deserve it, squander it because they don't realise it's true worth.
