Saints Row 2 - Image 1Australia's OFLC has been known to be one of the strictest regulatory bodies in the world when it comes to violent content in games. Those anticipating THQ's upcoming Saints Row 2 (Xbox 360, Windows, PlayStation 3) could breathe sighs of relief because it's been cleared for its scheduled launch.

THQ said that the OFLC gave Saint's Row 2 an MA 15+ rating. The publisher credits this to the over the top violence which seems to have been done in a tasteful enough manner to pass the censors.

Along with that, THQ shared some of the cool missions that you'll be doing in the game. All the stuff mentioned in previous trailers have been reiterated along with some others you must not have heard about yet. Mentioned in an IGN article were the following objectives:
  • Septic Avenger- spray nasty sewage on buildings and people
  • Crowd Control- protect a celebrity from mobs of violent fans
  • Fight Club- join an underground bloodsport ring
Other features:
  • Insurance fraud- Put yourself or a friend in planted accidents, duck danger at the last second, and collect some sweet insurance dough.
  • Insane diversions- streaking, car surfing, tagging, base jumping, stunt jumps and loads more.
  • Escort missions- More than being some glorified taxi driver, the escort missions in this game are said to be similar to those in the original Saints Row. Take in clients and help them steer clear of press, jealous spouses, private detectives, and more.

think of it as a parody, which it really is.

saint's row doesn't take itself very seriously.

think of it as the "Scary Movie" of sandbox games.

you need to get pretty graphic with a parody (ala Team America's sex scene) for people to get upset.
