PlayStation 3 - Image 1With the Europe PS3 launch slated for this Friday, GAME Stores Group Ltd (a European retailer) has opted to hold a breakfast launch instead. Considering the dangers of taking home a GDP 424.99 worth (for pre-order, around US$ 832) piece of gaming equipment, it just might be a good move for safety's sake.

GAME Stores Group Ltd's flagship store at Oxford Street have heeded the concerns of LondonÂ’s Metropolitan Police and will open the store at 7 a.m. instead of the midnight launch on March 23. Gamers will have access to public transportation and the relative safety of broad daylight to take their newly acquired consoles home.

The first 150 gamers who pre-ordered the PS3 will be invited to the store and they will be treated to a breakfast of bacon butties, pastries and coffee, and Sony goodie bags. The store will be open to all customers at 9 A.M. GAME's marketing director, Anna Macario said, "The launch of the PS3 is a big deal to our customers. We are managing the launch so it is safe for them, and the only thing they have to concentrate on is securing their new console."

Roll with bacon in?

Dude, it's just a sandwich. Fish buttie. Chip buttie. Sausage buttie. You wouldn't have bacon in any of them... Well OK maybe in a sausage buttie, because bacon and sausage go so well together :D But no bacon in a fish or chip buttie.

You seriously waould have chips and bacon? weird

ahem

im from asia but i assume its just toasted sliced bread with butter. then you just add any kind of meat, for example bacon buttie is just bacon over toasted bread with butter.

Uhm...

I work at GAME and our store is still opening at midnight. We're going to open at 11:30 and let customers who have pre-ordered in to look around at various deals and such until we can legally sell the console at 12 midnight. We're then closing at 1/2am and THEN reopening at 7am for the morning. We were ringing people on Sunday, and no doubt every day from then until now, letting them know about the midnight launch, so if this is true, which I believe its more likely miscommunication, we will have just been told by head office to ring 140+ people at the tell them to turn up when you shop is closed. XD I just rung them to make sure and they said they're still opening at 11:30 as planned. It looks like this "no midnight launch" applies only to the Oxford store...
