Six months after its controversial and much-anticipated release, Media Molecule's LittleBigPlanet got a LittleBigPriceDrop. A Sony spokesperson confirms - the price cut is there to make "a more attractive purchase" for those who still haven't experienced Sackboy and his magic.
From its original retail price of US$ 59.99, Amazon currently has LittleBigPlanet on sale at US$ 39.99, DVD.co.uk has a bigger price cut, leaving the triple-A title at only £ 10.89 - about US$ 14. Sony believes that this price cut will make the six-month old game more attractive for gamers, especially in light of the economic grind.
So says a Sony spokesperson:
In general the retail environment is very tough at present, but the positive consequence is that when consumers are feeling the need to monitor their spending there are still some attractive deals to be had if people shop around.
It is commonly accepted that in times of economic hardship, people value their entertainment. And the multiple hours of entertainment value represented in a video game can makes games a more attractive purchase, especially at a discounted price.
Okay, now how about making the PS3 "a more attractive purchase" too, Sony?
Maybe the price cut is because Sackboy kills people now?

Seriously getting sick of all this price drop whining. Considering what ya get in the package and what the console does and the fact I've used it near enough daily since I bought the thing, it's a bargain in my opinion. If you think it's too much then ya don't buy one. Simple as that and in the meantime those of us who did get to enjoy the quality games it has to offer and yeah LittleBigPlanet at £10.89 is a freakin' steal.
