Rumor update: Art director denies "Sweet Tooth" image as ad for Twisted Metal

Not Twisted Metal's Sweet Tooth - Image 1

It all began with a picture of a clown-shaped mushroom cloud found on the internet. The picture sparked a lot of rumors of a Twisted Metal (TM) comeback to the PlayStation 3, and to tell the truth, it was a sweet thing to think about. But sadly, officials have denied links between the image and any upcoming titles in the franchise.

The image in question was a product of TBWA's Paris office and its Art Director Philippe Taroux. When asked about the nature of the ad, Taroux mentioned that the image was not related to any specific video game and was actually part of a general Sony campaign. Taroux described the concept behind the ad as "an explosion of fun," rather than a hint at TM's Sweet Tooth. Sony officials were also asked if they were developing a new Twisted Metal title, to which they replied, "We don't have anything in the works at this time."

This news definitely disappoints a lot of fans who were looking forward to playing TM on the PS3. With avid speculation about new features, playable characters, returning names, and a whole lot of TM fun, players were oozing with excitement at the thought of the franchise's return. Sadly, we all ended up disappointed, but even then this shouldn't stop us from hoping that the people at Sony would work on a sequel. It really doesn't hurt to dream.

An explosion of fun?

How about an explosion of desperation?

That's the PS3's situation.

Maybe you haven't been paying attention lately, since the price cut the PS3 has been outselling the XBox360 in America, first time doing so.

So now the 360 is falling behind, just barely 1.5 million sold in total since the release of the PS3 and the Wii (3.69 and 9.01 million respectively). Not to mention the lose of Moore, no games outside of FPS being released for the Holiday season, and the dreaded 33% failure rate issue.

Maybe you have a wrong idea on who is in desperation.

Well I don't know why people think this looks like sweettooth. as a long time fan of the series. (played em all) I will say this. first off sweet tooth looks a lot meaner and he has flamming hair. this clown has the bon bon looking side poofy hair. It looks nothing like any sweettooth images i have ever seen. As much as I would love for them to make another twisted metal hopefully more like the old twisted metal 2 I doubt they will anytime soon.

I'm not a Xbox fan boy but who cares if xbox has pretty much all FPS. I like PS3 more than xbox but all we have are those gay sword and combat fighting games. RPG's are gay especially Gay Fantasy. ninja gaydon.

» Noticing a patern here?

PS1 had 4 twisted metal games. Four!

PS2 had only one.

PS3 has zero.

PS1 had 5 Tomb Raider games. Five!

PS2 had 3 Tomb Raider games.

PS3 will never have a Tomb raider game.

Tenchu series no longer on Playstation

Dance Revolution no longer on Playstation

Katamari no longer on Playstation

The good games that started on playstation are no more! All gone to XBOX!

There is no PS3 price cut! It's a chezzy inventory clearance sale. Free WiFi, memory card reader, and 40gb more hard drive for the price of the unpopular 20gb PS3. Wow generous sony. People are rushing to get a cheaper discontinued model so they don't get ripped off on the 80gb version (you know it's a rip off so don't lie.) Sony may be good at getting short term sales spikes, but they will never ever catch up to the 360. The fact they released a 80gb PS3 that is cheaper for them to make yet they are charging $100 more for is evidence of that. Sales will flatline when the 60gb models are gone.

The XBOX 360 sells without the need for a price cut or sleazy clearance sale.

I wouldn't know what the 33% failure rate issue was if it wasn't for the internet. My XBOX is still going strong after 16 months. Why is it dreaded again? Even if it fails, I'm covered.

Ken Kutaragi (the father of your precious) quit because the PS3 was a failure and he's horrible at business, not because he wanted to move closer to family like Moore.

» those games don't sell the Playstation

The real games that sell Playstation is the Metal Gear Solid series, which for a fact will not make it to the 360...and you're forgetting the fact that new franchises, and they are strong franchises that will skyrocket the PS3's sale...and soon enough, by next year, the PS3 80GB price will be no different than the 60GB PS3s now. You points are valid...sure those games that had been in Playstation are no more, but those are not games that will sell the PS3. It is games like Killzone 2, MGS4, Lair, Heavenly Sword, God of War 3, etc that will sell the system.

» No judging yet

No patterns, the PS3 has not been out long enough to include it into a pattern of how many games have been released on it.

As for twisted metal, I think that sony is trying to keep the game undercover by denying the hype they create.

As for Tomb Raider, I couldn't care less about the game, it's dead though it will likely try to make another attempt on the PS3, Xbreak 360 and possibly the Wii.

DDR and Katamari will both be released on the PS3, eventually.

The PS3 did recieve a price cut, not a clearance (a clearance means that the product is being "completly cleared out"). Sony will not be removing the model, unless the demand for the new 80gb completly out weighs the demand for the 60gb, kind of like the 20gb version being pulled.

The Xbreak is selling just fine in america, but not anywhere in asia.

The PS3 is not a failure, and you would be a fanboy to disagree.
