Details are still "very vague", but there will apparently be "regular multiplayer and co-op missions that can be done, but the co-op in question is not the single-player game with another person."
Here's the Hard News vid for your viewing pleasure. The Uncharted 2: Among Thieves bit's at the beginning. The game's release window has been set for September 2009.
**UPDATE** The game details page for Uncharted 2 on the UK's official PlayStation site clearly states that there's no multiplyer. Looks like this rumor's been shot down. Keep checking back here for more updates.

i've wanted this since drake's fortune!!!
oh well. i'd still get this in a heartbeat. ^_^
not like Uncharted needs Multiplayer, it's a Single player game like God of War 3. Although wondered how co-op would be if it was integrated.
Still, I haven't played the first one. Might pick it up in the summer. ;P
I would have liked co op 2 player. The motion, controls and combat for Nate are my favorite in any game of this genre and it would certainly have been cool to have a friend in there too doing the same stuff as a different character. Perhaps the story mode would have been too hard to make multiplayer but some extra bonus 'missions' that flashback to an earlier time or something and Nate having another treasure hunting buddy with him as the second player, that would be cool. And let the characters be able to give each other a couple punches when you get annoyed with your buddy. Perhaps it could be a DLC for Uncharted 2 or in Uncharted 3... It's fun to daydream about awesome things.
Doesn't matter that much though. Am sure Uncharted 2 will be fantastic anyways.
aww i wanted multiplayer. I felt that was the only thing missing from uncharted 1 but it was still an AMAZING game.

Not many games make you want to play it over and over again after you just finish them. The first game was amazing and I rarely play a game over four times. I don't think multiplayer would work well for uncharted. Think about it, everybody would be climbing things.
