Is the PS3 Slim a fabrication or a frustrating leak? If it turns out to be the latter, then here's another possible source of frustration for Sony: Rumor has it that two Taiwanese manufacturing companies have been awarded contracts to build the PS3 Slim.
According to UDN.com (and a handy dandy translation from Joystiq), half of the orders were given to Foxconn. Another Taiwanese group, ASUS subsidiary Pegatron, will be handling the other half. Both companies served as original equipment manufacturers (OEM) for the original PS3. The PS3 Slims are expected to ship in early July in Japan to cope with summer vacation demands.
All of this comes from anonymous sources, so keep in mind that this is just a rumor. Still, it certainly does seem like the PS3 Slim is moving further from rumor and inching closer to reality.

They will probably make the "fat" PS3's cheaper and launch this at the higher price point. Hoping people will pay more for a thinner better looking PS3. There is no reason psp-go could not be the same price as current PSP's, but because it's new and a "premium" product they bumped up the price. I am sure Sony will think the ps3 slim is a "premium" product as well.
